Lodge at Canyon River Ranch
Reviewed 21 May 2014

It is a dream home: luxury log cabin over looking one of the best trout rivers, mountains and trains. Beds are comfy, kitchen is well equipped. High ceiling, big windows, TV & surround sound system. Although you'd want to spend more time outdoor - perhaps fishing, or tossing some horseshoes. Or how about soaking in the hot tub? Highly recommend if you can afford to splurge.

Room Tip: Ask for the corner unit so you get more windows...

We hosted a wedding reception for our son and his new bride at the Lodge at Canyon River Ranch earlier this month. Their food service is new, so I was a bit nervous about how the hearty appetizers would turn out. Our guests loved them! And the service was impeccable. The staff were very accommodating to all our needs and bent over backwards to be friendly and helpful.

The bride and groom stayed overnight in one condo with friends (each condo has 2 bedrooms) and the bride's parents and brother stayed in another unit. They gave very positive feedback on their experience.

You could hardly ask for a more scenic setting for a wedding event, although there is a ceiling of 125 guests. The Yakima River borders the property while steep basalt cliffs provide the backdrop to the view out the two story lodge's great room picture windows. One of our guests spotted big horn sheep on the cliff and the play of light on the rock face is beautiful.

Fishing is a theme for this lodge and many people who hold shares in the property are avid fly fishermen. Red's Fly Shop is next door and drift boats populate its parking lot. But it would be a mistake to think of the Lodge as being only suited to fishing enthusiasts. The pool is family friendly and the hot tub, library, game room and newly opened Riverside Grill next door create a welcoming environment for all types.

The Lodge has been built with great craftsmanship on a grand scale. The whole place is elegant yet simultaneously rugged in a tasteful manner. Our wedding reception required very little in the way of decorating because the place is already so visually appealing.

By the way, bike riding in the Yakima River Canyon is also fabulous. My husband and I rode our bikes from Yakima to the Lodge at Canyon River Ranch yesterday, stayed overnight and rode back this morning. Gorgeous river views with fly fishermen standing in the sparkling water - it doesn't get much better than that.

The Lodge at Canyon River is a gorgeous facility-- excellent quality but not ostentatious. It is on the beautiful Yakima Canyon and you really feel like you are a world away down there. Great condo room with nicely outfitted kitchen. Love the pool and hot tub! Staff are very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: There are two pet-friendly rooms which we appreciate.

We recently stayed at The Lodge at Canyon River Ranch and were very impressed with the layout and the décor. If you are wanting a relaxing getaway, this is the place for you and your family or even a romantic weekend. The place is so clean and accommodating. I really love the all views from our room. The pool area is very nice. The staff and Manager go beyond their duties to make you feel right at home. There so many things to do whether you like to fish, float the river, game target shooting or just relax by the pool. This place truly a hidden gem. We will definitely return

Myself and my family arrived at the Lodge @ 12 noon on Sunday. A bit earlier than expected and we were made aware priviously that a wedding party would not be vacating until 1 pm Sunday. We had been camping prior to this so we figured if we arrived an hour early it would be no big deal. The Lodge visually is stunning. As we sat taking in the sights we noticed several doors to the rooms were open as housekeeping was busy doing what they do. As we passed by the rooms, they were completely trashed. Broken beer bottles littered the ground and cigarette butts were everywhere. It was hard not to take notice.

We decided to go into what is the main room and it looked like a frat party gone bad. The front desk gal was completely appologetic stating a wedding had taken place there the previous night. I am not sure what took place but the poor cleaning girls looked beyond tired and this was clearly not what I would expect people in a wedding to leave such an amazing place looking like.

We were told that it was going to be quite a few hours befor we could enter our room becasue of the severity of the damage to the rooms from the wedding party. We had brought our dog and the weather was beyond hot so the front desk gal offered that we could keep the dog in the room until housekeeping could get to our room. We entered the lower level room and it stunk like smoke, broken glass littered the master bathroom. And outdoor furniture was set up in the middle of the room.

We put our dog in the front bathroom, the one without broken glass and waited paintenly by the pool taking in all the beauty. The wonderful gal at the front desk let us prepare our lunch in the main part of the lodge. The kitchen was grand. If I ever get my kitcher redone I want it just like theirs. The windows facing the mountains were stunning in spite of the beer bottles sitting atop the fireplace and any place with a flat surface. We lingered about and finally decided to hang out at the pool. It was like our own private mansion. The pool was completely empty and the kids just enjoyed the afternoon swimming and playing.

We unfortunalty could not get into our room until a little after 7:30 due to the amount of cleaning needed in all the rooms. Another couple we were meeting could not get into their room until 8.The General Manager was kind enough to give a VERY NICE bottle of wine and bent over backwards with apologies. The weather was fantastic. We floated the Yakima River on Monday and went for a short hike nearby. The scenery is breathtaking.

We would absolutly recommend this facilty. Very family friendly. Pool, hot tub lots of areas for kids to run around.

Wow what a resort. We were greeted with smiles and had the most amazing customer service ever!! We have family in Yakima and this was a nice place to stay since the family comes and visits us at the resort. The view is spectacular and the "things to do" are never ending. Coming from the city I expected med-i-oker service and lodging, but I'll have to say the management has really hit home on this resort. I would suggest this place to stay to any of my friends and family. Really excited to come back soon.
