A beautiful location where you can walk on the beach or explore the lush rain forest. A quiet cabin with a view of the ocean. Friendly and helpful staff. Food that was better than I have found at other National Parks. Enough variety of food at the lodge to eat there regularly. A great place for photography.

Green Features: loved the 5-minute timer in the shower. however, was surprised there wasn't a blue 'recycle' bin in the cabin.

My wife and I recently stayed here on an anniversary trip. We greatly enjoyed the stay at the Seacrest House. The accommodations were nice and the food for breakfast and dinner were delicious. They unfortunately were out of a couple menu items but what we had was delicious. Would have loved some Wi-Fi but I understand what they are going for but with limited cell service it was tough for someone who is usually always connected.

Room Tip: Seacrest rooms still have slight view of the ocean.

Kalaloch Lodge was an absolutely marvelous place to enjoy nature. The 0cean views were fantastic. We had a campfire on the beach and roasted smores and hot dogs. The cabins were great for a family bonding experience. The only thing I would suggest is bring a lot of food with you because the lodge's restaurant is the only place to eat for miles around and that could be fairly expensive. I definitely will stay at Kalaloch Lodge again if/when I visit the Olympic National Park area.

Room Tip: Bluff cabins are a little more expensive, but provide gorgeous ocean views right outside your door.

We enjoyed our stay here at Kalaloch Lodge. We had the Macy Cottage which had a fantastic view of the beach! When you want to stop and slow down from the hustle and bustle of life, this is a piece of paradise to do so.

If judging on location alone, Kalaloch Lodge would win five stars. It's perfectly located on the West Coast of Olympic National Park, to get easily to several different, wonderful hikes and beaches. And it sits on the ocean, so if you're lucky enough to get a room overlooking the ocean, it has the potential to be a great spot.
The front-desk staff is also friendly, earning it high marks. And the restaurant, while overpriced, offers a wide variety of options with fantastically fresh salads.
But here's why we are only giving this lodge two stars: the room was dingy and dirty, and housekeeping which was supposed to be daily, was nonexistent. At first blush, the room seemed great, overlooking the ocean. But then you started to look around and notice the dirt, especially the carpet which was not only stained but looked like it hadn't been vaccuumed in ages. Also, absolutely no art, not even the usual tacky hotel stuff; only nagging signs about minimizing water use (this in a area that gets the highest rainfall in the country!). Everywhere you looked there were signs--at the sink, where you brushed your teeth (turn off water while you brush!) and even at the restaurant where posters noted that glasses of water would only given if you asked. That was annoying but minor.
Most annoying though, was our daily "housekeeping service." Whoever cleaned came in and through comforter back in place, although didn't do anything else. Even the sheets below the comforter weren't straightened into place; they were a wrinkled, tangled mess once you pulled the comforter back. The trash wasn't emptied, nothing was swept, cleaned, making the already dirty-looking room look even worse.
Kalaloch Lodge charges a lot of money for the accommodations it offers--and obviously knows it's in a good location, so seems to be taking advantage of that without providing the kind of hotel experience its customers deserve at the price it charges.
Stay for the location, but don't expect much else in return.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view if staying in the lodge--or in a cabin too.

Green Features: Kalaloch Lodge tries too hard to be environmentally correct--and makes the customer feel guilty in the process, with all its signs and advice on how to save water--in a place where water shortage is not an issue. It's fine to be water conscious, but enough already with all the nagging signs.

All of your comments have been noted, guest feedback is our best conduit to making improvements so thank you for the detailed response. We will discuss your review with our staff to see where we can make improvements for all future guests. We apologize for the water conservation messages, while we do have a large amount of rain our water resources are very strained in Olympic National Park. Unless you are camping, this is the best lodging option in the area. It is close to many beaches including Beaches 1,2,3 and 4, Kalaloch Beach and Ruby Beach. We stayed in unit 9, a 1-bedroom duplex unit with ocean views. The room itself was very basic, a queen?? (that's what it was supposed to be, but it was a double) bed, futon, coffee table, stove, mini-fridge and microwave. I think the room is billed as 3-4 people max, but it seemed very full with just 2 adults and I can't imagine having anyone in the room as well. Unit 9 was very well located to the beach access stairs, which we loved. I don't think there were any other restaurants located nearby, but if you don't want to eat in the lodge restaurant, there is a little convenience store on site.

Room Tip: Unit 9 is close to the stairs for beach access.
