“Wonderful and Welcoming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

The Miller Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to explore the rainforest and beaches located in Olympic National Park. It is the nicest accommodation you will find in Forks. If you are looking for a connection to Twilight, this place caters to that. However, we were here for the national park, and did not feel like we were being pushed into a Twilight experience.

We stayed in the Elk View Room and it was beautiful. Very serene, private, and specious. The house is really charming and looks over pretty fields with mountains in the back.

The hospitality at Miller Tree is incredible. Bill and Susan, the owners, were wonderful. The breakfast that they cooked was AMAZING. We had an incredible egg dish one morning and a great french toast meal the next. Each day there was fruit, bacon, pastries, and unlimited supply of fresh picked black berries from their backyard. I even got the recipe for one of the dishes to try at home. Bill and Susan also are very thoughtful in their recommendations for day trips, places to eat and other facts about the surrounding area. On top of all this, Bill and Susan knew that we were staying with them on a special occasion and left us sparkling apple cider in the fridge with a very sweet card.

I HIGHLY recommend Miller Tree Inn.

Although the price felt a bit steep for this area, we expected a rather old and a bit dusty B&B like some earlier reviews had indicated and as you might expect in a town like Forks. We were warmly greeted by Bill, the owner and given a small tour of the house. When we entered our assigned room ("Cedar Creek" above the main entrance) we were positively surprised. We were looking at a large room with lots of natural light. 2 large plus 2 smaller windows provided views in 3 directions. Our bed was wide and very comfy, the bathroom was spotless and looked like new (good water pressure in the roomy shower based in a comfy bathtub that also served as a whirlpool) We had plenty of space for our luggage and to walk around. There was an extra sink with a mirror in one area and a fridge with free soft drinks and water on the other end. TV and DVD player were modern, WiFi worked perfectly.
Admittedly, furnishings in the common area including the breakfast room are surely a matter of taste, although all felt quite comfortable and was very clean. Cookies and coffee/tea in the afternoon were appreciated. Breakfast was a mixed experience and some items like the packaged pastries and jams were a bit disappointing and not homemade. The veranda could need a refresher, the side entrance for guests seemed a bit awkward and did not really fit to the rest of the house. Surrounding grounds were well kept. For us, the worst point was that Susan (the owner's wife) did not make any effort to greet her guests neither on arrival nor at breakfast. In fact, we had not spoken a word, she always disappeared as quickly as she entered the room. We asked ourselves why anybody would want to be in the hospitality business if he/she does not like to talk to people? Well, Bill made up for it...

Room Tip: Pick the Cedar Creek room, it has good light and plenty of space

Driving through Forks, I got a bit nervous. Everything looked pretty mediocre. However, we pulled into this tree shaded driveway and I breathed a sigh of relief. It is as nice inside as it is outside. Upon arrival, Bill greeted us enthusiastically and was very easy to talk to. He showed us around, explained how to work things, pointed out emergency exits, etc. The Sunset Room was lovely and tastefully decorated. It was small but not as small as I expected. Comfortable bed, jacuzzi tub, TV, small refrigerator with complimentary drinks and lots of little personal touches (for example, there was a corkscrew with a cutting board and cheese knife on top of the refrigerator).
Given that this is the "Cullen House" from Twilight, I was concerned that the theme would be overdone but it was not.
It is very convenient to Rialto, First, Second and Third Beaches and the Hoh rainforest. Forks is nothing to rave about but the Miller Tree Inn is.

Room Tip: Our room was exactly as described on the website. Read descriptions carefully

We were traveling to Forks with no idea where we were going to stay and ended up here. The lady watching the place stayed up very late to accommodate our late arrival and was very welcoming. Our room was cozy and cute. We didn't actually know about all the Twilight stuff, but even if you aren't a fan, it's interesting. The breakfast the next morning was so good and something we had never had before. The dining set up was really homey as well.

Forks is not the most exciting town in Washington, and there aren't a lot of great places to stay. But this turned out very well. We were warmly received by the owners, the house is appealing, our room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast was great.

This is a very quaint Victorian home. The property is beautiful and well landscaped. It is in a quiet area not too far from the pacific coast. Our room was clean and quiet. This is not a hotel. It is a home with the old home atmosphere and noises. The stairs are the old home type--steep and narrow. It is a very friendly atmosphere. Makes you feel like you are in grandmas house. The breakfast each morning was freshly cooked when you came down to the dining area. Very relaxing.

We were on a trip part of which covered the territory from Port Townsend along 101 down to the Oregon coast and beyond. We wanted a place to stay close to Rialto beach and the Miller Tree seemed to be about right for us. And, it was. A place has to be clean and our room and bathroom was very clean and inviting. The location is a bit off the main street (101) in town, but rather easy to find directly down a side street.

We were greeted by a very friendly host who showed us the inn and explained how it works. There is a porch, a parlor (living room) and two rooms with tables for breakfast – one is the main one but there is an adjacent room in case extra space is needed. The breakfast area has a continuous supply of many kinds of packaged snacks – peanuts, other nuts, granola bars, cookies, etc. The rooms have a small refrigerator that is lightly stocked with soda and small cans of juice. These goodies are free for the taking if you are a guest. There are a variety of rooms, with kings, twins, etc. and most if not all have en suite bathrooms. I recall a total of 8 rooms – some of which are not in the main house. We stayed in the sunset room, which is one of the lower priced rooms, but with its king and bathroom was fully adequate. It faces west. I think all rooms have a TV and a dvd player. Ours did, but we did not use them. At least a couple of the rooms have gas fireplaces (which might be nice if you visit in colder weather).

Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom had good towels and the shower (separated from the toilet and sink – very useful) worked well. The rooms in the inn tend to be filled with various things – things on shelves, things on the walls. These are not an intrusion and not in the way, but if one had to find a single word it might be the word cluttered. This over states it, but does cover the base. Breakfasts are rather nice and offer plenty to eat. In addition to a hot breakfast, there is a selection of cereals that one can have instead or in addition.

All in all, this is a friendly place where the host and hostess make it clear that they want you to be happy. The host knows all sorts of things about the area and will give you any advice you seek. He will also make local calls to check things out for you - e.g. is that restaurant you might want to try actually serving salmon tonight. There is adequate off-street parking. We would not hesitate to stop again when we pass by Forks. [PS: apparently they have a cat that does not enter the guest rooms. We did not see it.]

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet, Pick the one with the right combination of bed and bathroom facilities.
