“Superb!”

We stayed in the Lodge for a week and enjoyed the Lodge very much. We loved the beautiful log home, the unusual, wonderful antiques, giant Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom suite, stone fireplace. So peaceful in the forest and fun to grill out on the deck for a dinner and watch the birds and ducks on the small lake.
We also enjoyed our hosts and did have maid service when we wanted it.
If you go out to dinner we enjoyed a great dinner at Gordon's and another evening dinner up at Frasers.
Many great beaches to go exploring too. Oh and not to miss is the Logan berry pie at Whidbey pies in Greenbank. So very Good!
We love Guest House Cottages, and this is our third return, with hopefully many more to come!

It's a little worrisome to find a "for sale" sign on the property when you drive up....

The Carriage House was very nice and the setting is lovely and very private. It was also really nice, given the weather here, to have a carport attached (this also provided a great place for grilling -- which we did for two nights. All the wood you could ever need for stove and grill).

The cabin does have some things that, if fixed, would make this a five-star instead of a three-star....

1. The cabin is ABSOLUTELY CRAMMED with bric-a-brac. Every possible surface has some "cute" thing on it. If I were staying again, I'd go through the cabin and put away 2/3 of all this "stuff." It would make the cabin MUCH more livable.

2. The placement of the refrigerator is frustrating.... the door opens in such a way that it is between you and the refrigerator and it is VERY awkward to get stuff.

3. The thermostats need better labeling.

4. We needed extra towels and they were hidden in a not-at-all obvious place.

5. As musty as the cabin gets (given its rain forest locale) it would have been nice to have a screened window that could be opened to air out the place.

6. Half of the electric outlets are so old and loose that they won't hold plugs; plugs just fall out.

7. At these prices (which are rather high) I would expect maid service and not to have to (as a previous reviewer noted) to do ones own dishes and take out one's own trash.

8. It was fun to have a shelf of books available to browse, but it could use some culling, e.g., a 1987 (!) edition of The Interstate Gourmet.

There is wifi available by the pool area, although if it's raining this isn't very convenient.... Cell phones don't work very well at all in the cabin area.

All-in-all, a lovely venue with several minor annoyances that would be easily fixed. But, if the place is for sale....

We have stayed at Guest House several times and is our favorite destination. We have been in the Kentucky, the Tennessee and the Lodge; all are wonderful! The cabins have everything you need for staying several days (and we have); the setting is private, romantic, restful and secluded in a beautiful forest setting.

Pastries, fruit, snack items, and eggs are provided for breakfast on your own schedule. Greenbank store within a mile has a deli, basic grocery items plus a cafe upstairs. Within a 10 minute drive in Freeland is a large grocery store with anything you want plus a deli with many prepared goods. A BBQ is available at the cabins.

Restaurants are not plentiful but Christopher's (Coupeville) and Cafe Langley (Langley) are superb! The island is full of trails and scenic drives, especially Deception Pass.

Hosts Peggy and Doug are gracious and friendly but always respect your privacy. We look forward to returning this fall.

We stayed in the Kentucky cabin. It was very secluded,so if you want privacy, this is the cabin. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast choices in the cabin were plentiful. Havering a real fire was very special. I would definitely recommend for a quiet weekend get away. Loved the surroundings.

Room Tip: The Kentucky& Tennessee are very secluded. The cabins on the lake have a beautiful view and very...

We stayed in the log cabin by the duck pond. The cabin is cute and fairly authentic, and the breakfast table looks right out over the pond. Watching the ~20 mallards spend their morning is a very serene way to spend breakfast (its kind of like watching a fish tank).
As other reviewers have mentioned, the cabin is stocked with lots of breakfast food. If you think of it and are so inclined, bring some omelet ingredients and you cook up great omelets with the dozen eggs they supply from their own chickens. (They supply the stove, pans, eggs and oil - some of the stuff takes a while to locate, but it is there).
The cabins are nicely spaced, so it feels very private. The cabins tucked are away from the highway - you can still hear the highway, but its not bad. The owners are nice and helpful, and seem to keep to themselves. The cabin has a wood stove, which worked great on the winter weekend we were there.
Overall, this is a really good cabin experience. Our cabin was not new. If you are looking for something brand new and sparkling clean with a large bathroom, this is not your place. It you are looking for an old style cabin, this is it. The only improvement I would offer is that the place had a few too many antiques & stuffed bears & homey touches (a basket of knitting?) inside the cabin - it makes it hard to separate your belongings from theirs when you go to leave.

Okay, we saw the videos and thought it was cute but when we opened the door all we could say was wow and smile! To describe The Cabin we'd have to use words like idyllic, charming, special ,peaceful and romantic . The attention to detail ie roses, chocolates, music upon entering along with a country decor that warms the heart and view of the pond from the table that make you say, "ahh"...continually..... We felt like we found a buried treasure! If you need a getaway , this is the place!
