“Best on Hood Canal”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

We haven't stayed in many hotels on Hood Canal or Kitsap Pennisula since we lived there for years, so this was somewhat a surpriise. What a great place to stay. Wonderful facility. Clean, comfortable, we had a great view of the canal,,, and the lady running the place was very friendly and helpful. It would be great to just kick back and enjoy the canal and forests. Downside is there are no good restaurants close by, and the road noise can be a pain at times. Even with that, I'd guess this is the nicest place to stay on Hood Canal.

Room Tip: Spend a few extra bucks and reserve a waterfront or water view room. It's well worth it.

I had a great time here even though is was for only one night!! Very friendly people that work and live here!! And you get a great view on Puget Sound! Not to far of a drive from Tacoma!! The rooms are clean and comfortable!! Great room rates also! There is spot to barbecue with a covered gazebo and a jacuzzi!!

We stayed 2 nights in a suite with our 4 kids and had a great time. The kids really enjoyed exploring the canal and the location is close enough to lots of hiking in the Olympics. The beds were a bit hard, but other than that it's obvious that the Glen Ayr is well maintained and very clean.

Room Tip: Save a lot of $$ by staying in a suite, and making your own meals. There's very few options to...

If you are a diver and want the perfect place to stay - this is it. My wife and I are avid Puget sound divers and never stay anywhere else. It's clean, quiet, and a great location minutes from sund Rock and Octopus Hole, as well as Hood-sport N Dive scuba shop (One of the best dive shops in the NW). There is a recreation room with pool table for socializing, they have dive gear wash areas and lockers for gear, and a huge gazebo/hot tub for after diving. There's also a big gas BBQ area to boil crab/clams and cook oysters. The beautiful dock area is great for watching the water.

Room Tip: They have regular style motel rooms, as well as affordable suites with kitchens and separate rooms.

By far one of the best hotels in Hood Canal for the money. There aren't too many options of hotels in this area. We were skeptical to book a weekend getaway here because of the low rates but are so glad we did. The rooms are very plain but were extremely clean and quite large. The beds were comfortable enough for the price. It even had a fridge and microwave. The staff was very helpful and accommodated an after-hour check-in. The hotel is across the street from the water so the views are amazing but there's no swimming access. You must drive for that but having a car in Hood Canal is a must so it's fine. A large grocery store is just a 5 minute drive as well as a great coffee shop/breakfast joint and a few good restaurants. The Olympic national park is just a half hour drive and offers some amazing hiking. The hotel is just about an hour drive from the Seattle-Bremerton ferry. Super easy! Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in a very big 2 queen room with large vanity and bathroom. It had a desk, table, and two comfy chairs. I liked the sm table and chair on the deck for kicking back with a cold one watching the canal. Large parking area outside rooms. They have a separate building with large jacuzzi with its own deck. Across the street is a pier with benches and tables. It's a popular place for divers and people brought their boats and docked them there. It was nice to walk the shore at low tide. This place has a spot for RVers to park their rigs. Not one thing to complain about. Nice people working, too. Very relaxing place.

I've stayed at this resort the last 2 years and will return again this September. In lieu of listing all the 'positives' about this resort I will say that I've not experienced '1 negative'. The owners/managers of this resort continue to maintain EXCELLENCE! - - I'm a 'born and bred' Washingtonian but have been living in Arizona for 11 years - when I 'come home', as with anyone else, I don't want to be disappointed - - that's why I will continue to stay at this resort when I go to Hood Canal
