I'm from the Seattle area and needed a hotel for a recent visit back. Being from the area, I had always wanted to stay at the Woodmark so was very excited to enjoy a few days there.

There are some wonderful things about the hotel like the location, the view, and the staff but it needs a rehaul to make it measure up to the luxury hotel it bills itself as.

Pros:
- Great views of Lake Washington
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- Great restaurants and shops all a stones throw away

Cons:
- Not a good value considering how old the hotel seems
- Needs a big renovation. A decent hotel but the wood and carpet look like they've seen better days.
- Small rooms
- Now that there's an electronic toll on 520 (the nearby freeway into Seattle), it's more challenging to get to and from the city

Room Tip: Definitely get a lake-view room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. You'll be interested in knowing we have a renovation planned for our lobby and our guest rooms. This fall we're going to renovate the lobby and we're getting ready for an upgrade to all the soft goods in our guest rooms in 2013. We think you'll be pleased with the design that we have chosen.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

It was our wedding anniversary and we had already made reservations at Canlis to celebrate, and wanted to stay the night in the city as well. So, after much searching, I settled on a downtown hotel that had fine reviews. Wished we could do something with a view, but our budget was limited for this outing and it is what it is. I couldn’t help but get irked by the Seattle parking rates of $40, but called it a day on the search.
However, when the Travelzoo Top 20 deals came out with the Woodmark at almost half off, I ran up to my computer and booked a King room with lake view right away – not in the city, but hey, good price, so let’s roll the dice.
It was a gamble that paid off big time.
The hotel is so nice that my husband and I would come back and pay full price, and that is saying something. They are right off 520, so it was just a quick jaunt from the city to the hotel. They are located in a nice little cul-de-sac that had little shops, cafes and restaurants, so you truly felt as if you were at a secluded lakeside resort, and not 20 minutes from our house in Bellevue. There is a winding path along the lakeshore where people were out biking, running, walking their dogs – very picturesque. You can even go kayaking or rent bikes, something we would like to go back and do.
As for the hotel itself, it’s dog friendly but doesn’t look it – the linens, the bath amenities, everything is high quality and sparkling clean. The décor is styled like a yacht club, with nautical touches and flags, etc. that looks preppy but not overkill. We had noted it was our anniversary but, seeing as we were paying their special rate, didn’t expect much. Not only were we congratulated at every turn, but the hotel had cupcakes and prosecco waiting for us in our room! We “raided the pantry” (a feature that allows you to come downstairs to a large snack room stuffed full of chips, treats and drinks) and sipped our prosecco, simply enjoying the stay. We used to love Salish Lodge, but ever since they came under new management, it hasn’t been the same. We agreed we think we found our new local getaway.
Definitely will return (a lakeside view is a must)! If you are looking for a relaxing stay without the city noise, this retreat is the one to book.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing West. Ours faced out (to the lake) North, but you had to stand at the window t...

Dear Guest,

We were so happy to hear you choose to spend your wedding anniversary with us. It sounds like you were able to experience the hotel the way we intended for all of our guests. The limestone bathrooms are a special feature we were happy to add to our renovation a few years ago. We intend to do another upgrade to our guest rooms next year. We're so excited with the new designs.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Very nice hotel on the lake; most of the packages come with complimentary valet parking (as opposed to the $30/day rip-offs in California!). Room a bit small but oh, so comfortable. Slept like a log in the super comfortable bed and the pillows to die for...A "late night pantry" open downstairs from 11 PM - 3 ish is a nice touch. Had breakfest at the restaurant and it was supurb. The Spa was "extremely good" according to my wife..
There is a Keg for a decent steak/seafood type dinner down the road 4-5 blocks, otherwise a bit remote although there is a Starbucks in the complex.
We will return!

The Northwest Face Spa at the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland is absolutely everything you want in a spa and you need not be a guest at the Woodmark to enjoy it. In the first place, it shares the Woodmark's wonderful location right on the edge of Lake Washington. The staff is friendly and efficient, and even if you have just come in for a pedicure, you will be invited to use the sauna, high tech shower, and large changing room filled with product amenities. A cozy robe and slippers wait in a locker for your use. There are heaps of thick towels to use with the sauna and shower. Your may order a drink to enjoy with your pedicure -- I had several mimosas with the mani-pedi and it puts a real gloss on the experience! On my most recent visit, I started off with a session in the sauna, had the body wrap with the cucumber mint sugar scrub, masque in the same fragrance and then rested in the warm mylar wrap while receiving a relaxing scalp massage. This treatment ends with a shower in-room, followed by an all-over cucumber souffle moisturizing treatment. Such luxury. Amber provided a wonderful experience and brought a glass of cucumber water at the end. Afterwards, the wonderful relaxation room is available with easy chairs, a flickering fireplace and soft music. "Fruit water" is set out as well as canisters of premium white tea blends. The relaxation room table had a tiered plate with chocolate covered shortbread cookies, almonds, and a platter of chocolate dipped strawberries. You are made to feel welcome to stay as long as you please. Plan your time carefully and you can turn a simple manicure (the "luxury manicure" for example, is $45) into a full blown spa pampering experience. As you might imagine, spa "rituals" are not inexpensive, but frequently you can find specials on the Hotel's website that offer as much as a 50% discount on a featured treatment. After your spa visit, walk outside onto the plaza for fabulous mountain and water views or have lunch at Woodmark's Bin on the Lake or more modest Beach Cafe. When you need to be Queen for a Day, but want to get the maximum bang for your buck, nowhere, and I mean NOWHERE, can beat the Northwest Face Spa at the Woodmark.

This is a very nice boutique-style hotel. The staff was very friendly. The location is awesome - overlooking the water, a marina, with views of the mountains on the horizon. My room was very nice with an awesome bathroom. Great breakfast and a nice friendly bar downstairs, too.

Room Tip: Try to get a view of the water.

Spend Fathersday weekend at this lovely hotel and wished we could stay longer. Fabulous hotel with rooms right at the edge of the lake. Perfect weekend getaway with tons of dining options right on location. We LOVED being able to bring our dogs. Rooms and Hotel grounds immaculately clean and beautiful. Nice chill, relaxing, hip surroundings and attitudes. We will be back soon!

Room Tip: make sure you get a room with a water view, it's worth it!

Even though our room did not have the greatest location (right over the entrance) and they were doing roof construction so it was noisy, we did enjoy our stay at the Woodmark. Luckily, there are quite a few restaurants within walking distance as it's quite a hike to downtown Kirkland. It was great to be so close to the water and we will definitely use the bikes next time, weather permitting. Woody, the hotel dog was an added attraction. It's about time for the beds to be changed out as it was very uncomfortable and sleep was difficult.

Room Tip: Ask about the specific location of the room, especially the partial lake view rooms.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking a moment to share your comments regarding your recent stay. We are fortunate that our hotel is located on the Lake with views of Seattle and the mountains. As summer approaches, the lake comes alive with activity. We look forward to having you return in the near future.
