“Too Little for Too Much”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

As lovers of French cuisine we had high hopes for Kerstin's. The menu looks fine, but we thought the portions were small for the price (even for French food) and the actual offerings were nothing out of the ordinary. We go up Chuckanut Drive a ways where we enjoy the views and a substantially better dining experience.

“R. I. P. Kerstin's, unfortunately...”
Reviewed 13 April 2013

Kerstin's is no more. A lovely little place that had been one of my favorite restaurants in La Conner for many years (see my prior review), Kerstin's was always a joy to visit. But then I noticed that several recent reviews claimed that standards at Kerstin's were slipping, and there was even a suggestion that Kerstin's had closed for business. Sadly, that is the case. We went by Kerstin's on April 12, and the building was completely empty. There was a liquor license application dated March 27, 2013 posted on the window, so apparently a new restaurant is coming, but whether this new place, to be called Marion's Bistro, it is related to Kerstin's in any tangible way is unknown. For now Kerstin's is just a phantom website, and a memory, so let's hope that Marion's Bistro follows the same upscale tradition. Until that happens, there is only a single restaurant worth its salt in La Conner- Nell Thorn- which is as good as ever. Thankfully.

“A Special Place”
Reviewed 22 March 2013

This is the place you want to chose if you have a special occasion. It's pricey but the service is outstanding. I highly recommend their scallops, but the salmon is also to die for. They leave no stone unturned in providing great service. If you get there when the sun is going down, there is a special glow to the place. It is the finest restaurant in the whole of Skagit Valley.

“closed for business”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

This restaurant is also closed for business, even though it's website is still up & so I thought I'd save someone else the trouble of counting on it for lunch or dinner plans when it has gone out of business. Hopefully this is 100 characters...

“Birthday party favorite place”

Great service and food! Must try baked oysters on the half shell with grated cheese and the Alaskan Salmon/Cod combination. But, be prepared to spend some money.
