“The Boatyard is our favorite romantic getaway!”
Reviewed 31 March 2011

We have been visiting the Boatyard every year since 2000 when we were married and wouldn't think of going anywhere else to spend our anniversary. The rooms are immaculate, being right on the water is a big plus. Very laid-back town and we love it!

Room Tip: Try one of the two new suites! Very nice.

My partner and I traveled once again to Whidbey Island in Washington State. The tucked away Island town of Langley is and always be the gem of the Island destinations for us. Quiet, scenic, and fills you with peace. The Boatyard Inn is no exception. Located right on the water below the town, it gives you the privacy you want, yet is accessible to everything the wonderful town of Langley has to offer.
The moutains, the water, all the shades of green and blue, all add to the charm and coziness of the Boatyard Inn. Making breakfast in our own room is a nice touch as well. We recommend it highly to anyone who is visiting not only Whidbey Island, but the Pacific Northwest in general.

We stayed in Loft #2 the higher-end two bed, two bath. We checked in close to 6PM...the time that the Inn Keeper goes home. She showed us to our room and as soon as we walked in, let us know that "it needs to be renovated". Why didn't she tell me this when I spoke to her on the phone to book it???

We were tired and really didn't pay much attention to it, until we started to get settled. THE COUCH WAS FILTHY, TOTALLY STAINED CUSIHONS...WE DID NOT WANT TO SIT ON IT WITHOUT PUTTING DOWN A SHEET. The tables were stained with ring marks. Even the Paper Towel Roll was stained with grease. The Fireplace has a one-hour "Timer" on it that ticks so loudly, you cannot hear anything else in the room.

If we were booked for longer than one night, I would have asked to move or would have gone to The Inn At Langley.

If the Owners are unaware of this situation, they should visit Loft #2 and then compare it to their Website Video....TOTALLY MISLEADING. I feel taken.

I was so upset that I took a Video of this disgusting Couch and will be happy to email it to the Owners in the event that they still can't believe the conditions of this Loft Room.

We really wanted to like this Inn. Now just angry about it. Too bad because the location is beautiful....it just doesn't deliver on it's promise. "Filthy" is never acceptable.

We deeply regret your disappointing stay at our inn and apologize for not meeting your reasonable expectations. Though we understand it may be of little consolation to you, we are in the process of replacing the couches, chairs, coffee tables and dining tables in all of our rooms -- a project that has been completed already in some of our units, though, regretfully, not in the one you stayed in. By the end of April, the furniture will have been replaced in every room. The furniture-replacement project is the culmination of a year-long renovation of the inn that has included generous expansion of the outside lower decks (each now 20 feet wide) to enhance the beach-front experience of our guests.

Our objective is to provide a restful, comfortable and impeccably clean environment for our guests. That we fell short during your stay is unacceptable and will only prompt us to work harder to ensure we achieve this goal for every visitor.

We do feel compelled to note that feedback from guests, both frequent and first-timers, is that out website is an accurate depiction of the rooms, setting, and ambiance of the Boatyard Inn.

We sincerely appreciate your feedback.

The place is relaxing, beautiful, and located in Whidbey Island's most charming town, Langley. The rooms are very large, cheap, and each one has one or two decks. All the rooms face the water and have an incredible view of the Cascade Mountains. A nearby dilapidated dock has bare ceiling rafters that frame one peak perfectly if you stand in the right spot. We visited a bunch of towns on the island and Langley was our favorite. It has lots of nice shops and eating places. We had Christmas dinner at The Inn at Lagley's restaurant, three blocks away, and our opinion, the six course meal was better than that of any Parisian restaurant.
Other food places we'd recommend are Cafe Langley and a bakery on 2nd St. in the Langely Village complex.

We stay here multiple times a year--either just my wife and me, or with our three kids. I've been reluctant to review the inn simply because it might make it harder for us to snag last-minute reservations in the future. The location is right on the water and within a couple of minutes' walk to the quaint town of Langley. Outstanding staff and perfect location whether you want a romantic getaway or a fun family outing.

Want to feel like you are out on the Saratoga Passage without having to get your sea legs? This is the place. Very nice accomodations - small kitchen, dining table and tv viewing couch.

Reading the reviews its hard to improve on what has already been said. Unique, spacious, comfortable, well eqquipped, well appointed, personnel touches of the owners abound. A quiet location but near enough to town with some excellent dining choices. A great northwest getaway spot.
