Heading towards the Enchantments, we came across a hidden gem amongst the evergreens, Tthe Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort. Throughout the property are separated bunkhouses(which are 2 -3 separated loft style rooms) , a library, a gameroom, a sauna and workout room, plus the lodge, the wonderful outdoor pool(but not really young child friendly), dining house and the Grotto Pub. In April it is a quiet place if you would enjoy a peaceful rest. Its right above the river and the resort has many trails to venture off on. Artwork inside and out on the grounds are wonderful! Chihuly glasswork adorns the grounds which are always spectacular!
The restaurant and pub serve only organic food which our family thoroughly enjoyed. If you eat in the dining hall, it is buffet style and does cost money. While we did not eat there for dinner that night(we ate at the Grotto Pub instead and the pizza was fantastic!), we had breakfast and it did not disappoint. It offered full on potatoes, eggs, chicken apple sausage or pork, bacon, pancakes, homemade granola, yogurts, bagels with all kinds of toppings including fresh lox and cheese, fresh fruits and fresh squeezed organic juice(carrot, apple, orange). During the summer it may be more rowdy.
The only downfall is that the walls between the lofts seem to be rather lightly insulated, you can hear your neighbors. The rooms are very cozy, the beds very comfortable, the shower steamin! The kids love sleeping in the loft! The ladder up to it, is steep, so you have to be more careful with the young ones. There is no TV or radio, enjoy time with the family without modern day distraction.

Leavenworth is only 10 minutes away and they have a trolley that takes you from the resort to the town.

We had planned a day trip to Leavenworth with my family while they were visiting me in Seattle. But sooner we realized that it would be hectic for my lil cousins so we planned to spend the night in Leavenworth and do some snow activities the next day. I booked the Loft Room and it was so beautiful and neat. I did not expect the property to be so big and luxurious. The kids enjoyed the loft room thoroughly. We had a some problem with the toliet in the middle of the night, but the staff was very accommodating and provided a new room immediately. Excellent service. Next time i will spend more time in the resort and enjoy the amenities. Not to forget the Grotto bar was very nice and is open past midnight.

Room Tip: the loft room is ideal with kids

My husband and I went here last fall as a "quick honeymoon" to get away after the busy summer. We loved it - the quiet, the amazing food, the setting and the area of Leavenworth. We plan on going back as soon as we can!

We had a wonderful time at Sleeping Lady. The rooms are beautifully designed with comfortable beds, and the aesthetic of the whole facility really reflects a love of the Northwest outdoors. Plenty of things to do, including a game room, fitness center, and rock pool hot tub. The area is lovely, with spring cross-country skiing nearly outside the door and a rental shop on site. Close to other areas for outdoor activities in the Leavenworth region as well. Service was great, food at all venues was excellent. What a wonderful experience we had!

We have stayed at SL numerous times, but this was our first winter layover. The scene is relaxing and the style is organic. I like that they have their own radio station. The grotto bar is a cool place to have cocktails and talk to the bartender. The food is locally sourced and well prepared.
I have two relatively minor complaints: 1) corkage - a) we were thrilled that we could bring our own wine to dinner for a small $15 corkage fee (I'm a collector and like aged wine), but the service was terrible. First night the waitress handed me a corkscrew and two glasses and left - I opened my Chassagne Montrachet white burgundy myself while seated at dinner (that felt weird); b) second night/different waitress - took my bottle from the table and disappeared for five minutes only to come back with a decanter filled with our wine. Good idea to decant, but weird to not open bottle at our table. I also had to ask her to retrieve empty bottle as I wanted to read label and view bottle on our table. She also spilled both glass pours on our table. Not to sound petty, but it was unprofessional, although I recognize we are not a a fine city restaurant.
2) Ok this is really petty, but their foosball table totally sucks and is slanted and unbalanced.
Aside from these minor complaints, we love the setting, the meals, the calm, and the various amenity cottages and rooms.

In a blend of Craftsman and rustic-cabin style, Sleeping Lady provides a mountain retreat-like setting with the finest cuisine I've ever experienced. Feeling like you're miles up in the steep mountains, you are in fact only a couple of miles outside Leavenworth. The obvious effort to produce a minimum impact site development has succeeded in yielding a relaxed atmosphere that immediately decompresses the stress from your normal life. And the culinary accomplishments, provided twice daily, are not only varied but can be compared with any offerings anywhere. It's that good. The experience is well worth the reasonable cost. Go. Go now. It's that good.
