“Fabulous place to retreat”
Reviewed 15 August 2006

We fell upon this place by accident, but decided upon seeing it that it would be fun to try. I'd recommend it for a relaxing, art-filled retreat with incredible scenery and great food. Highlights are watching the big salmon in beautiful Icicle Creek is still fishable apparently, watching falcons(?) soar over the creek, chipmunks crawl the huge boulders, sitting in the midst of a HUGE organic garden in the morning before breakfast, swimming in the heated rock pool, the hot tub, and hiking the property. I can't imagine how beautiful it must be in winter. We liked it so much we're going back in 2 weeks for the Levenworth (too cheesy to be believed!) concerts.

We celebrated my mother's 75th birthday at the Sleeping Lady recently, there were 13 or us, including 6 children. Sleeping Lady is that rare gem where all age groups and tastes are met with high approval. The kids played in the snow, skiied at a cozy, local ski hill, and played in the game room. But, best of all, there was no television! The adults, all of us food snobs, thouroughly enjoyed the delicious meals that were lovingly prepared. This will have been our 4th visit to Sleeping Lady, and there will be many more in the future!

We usually approach family get-togethers with a little trepidation because of the amount of cooking, cleaning, or entertaining it involves. The Sleeping Lady Resort made it possible for all 24 of us to spend a relaxed, fun Christmas vacation together - definate quality time! Though the gang ranged from age 15 months to 70 years we found plenty to do and an abundance of great food at the Sleeping Lady. The Christmas eve and Christmas dinners were well prepared and presented with excellent service, and they happily prepared special meals for the finicky kid eaters. The Christmas eve program was beautiful, and adults enjoyed getting together at the Grotto for drinks while the kids were able to stay in their cabin and play. Snow was great, sledding and cross-country skiing very fun, all over a great experience. The cabins, however were a bit cramped for a family of five - would recommend that they try adjoining several of the rooms together. We'd definately do it again, was wonderful to be pampered while others did the work.

This year will be our fourth annual get-away to Sleeping Lady. We first went there as a couple and had a great time cross-country skiing all day and then enjoying the fabulous gourmet meals. We now have a child and our daughter loves meeting other children in the dining hall. They keep each other entertained as we eat. It is rather expensive but if you take advantage of the discounted rates before and after the holidays it is a good value. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
This area is also a well known hiking area so it is a good place to stay in the summers as well. Gorgeous location, comfortable cabins, and good food-what more could you want?

My family and I went to Sleeping lady April 2002. It was peaceful, clean and the food was excellent! My daughter enjoyed the birds, she still talks about it to this day. The sound of nature was so relaxing, my daughter didn't mind the fact that there was no TV in our room.I have never slept in soft comfortable beddings as I have in Sleeping Lady, we had fun and I would recommend it to anyone.

A good $$$$ place to play, but not to relax.
Went to Sleeping Lady over New Years. They have a very popular New Year's Eve celebration (over $300 for 2) which includes dinner, dancing, fireworks and brunch on New Year's Day. All that was as advertised. TONS of food. The band was very good, although very loud, as seems to be the norm these days. Some young familes left because the kids couldn't take the noise. We enjoyed seeing families together for New Years. Gourmet food is served cafeteria buffet style and all you can eat. Good for those who want to eat well and quickly, but excluding New Year's Eve, other meals much of the food was luke warm from sitting on the steam table.
We live noise-filled busy lives and wanted low key New Year's & some peace and quiet & play outdoors in the snow. We chose Sleeping Lady because it promotes itself as a quiet retreat center that has gone to extreme lengths to be environmentaly protective. A book in your room explains all the things they have done in this regard. The brochure mailed with your reservation describes listening to the quiet sounds of nature during your stay. NOT
We had the good fortune of a lovely snowfall overnight. And so we awakened to the snow blower at 7:15 AM, with its 2 cycle gas engine spewing hydrocarbons in the air, and it proceeded to run ALL day, clearing paths. Twice it ran on our porch in front of our room whle we were trying to sleep. Large shovels are provided to clean off your steps--we wish the resort would chose more environmently friendly snow removal staff or equipment which is quieter--imagine soaking in their hot pool to the sounds and smell of the snow blower 5 feet from where you are trying to relax!
We paid over $600 for a 2 night stay--we didn't think it was worth the price, especially with the attractive alternatives in the Winthrop area, or Canada where your dollar buys a lot more. Our advice is visit Sleeping Lady in early January when the rates are low, and don't plan on sleeping in if it snows. You can cross country ski right by the resort, or downhill at Steven's Pass or Mission Ridge 30-45 minutes away. Also, there are also interesting concerts/workshops at other times of the year.
