“Nice”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

As with all websites, the pictures are enhanced…and this might be true for Enzian Inn. Even though not newlyweds, we booked the bridal suite. It was nice having dual sinks and a “couples” shower (1 shower head at each end of the shower). Room was clean. The sparkling non-alcoholic ale was a nice touch. The poster bed with canopy was nice; however, you almost needed to take a running jump in order to get into it. I felt the pillows and mattress were extremely soft. There are no top sheets (perhaps, in keeping with European tradition)…which made us wonder if the duvet cover was changed after each guest departs. The room was cleaned daily; however, the coffee machine still had left over grounds and was not emptied. We like our room cool and turned on the AC. During the night, the unit shuts down periodically, including the fan…perhaps reaching desired temperature? I could hear the clicking of the clock on the mantel…had to move it into the bathroom! On very positive notes: truly enjoyed their hot buffet breakfast…and the location is great for walking into the touristy area of town…much closer than the Best Western Plus. The breakfast included omelets cooked to order, warm waffles, very fresh hot cinnamon rolls and a variety of fresh fruits. The view from the veranda looking over the surrounding mountains was impressive and relaxing. Because of our schedule, we did not take advantage of the amenities offered: pool, music, etc., but am sure that they are delightful.

Room Tip: If a balcony is important, request it when making a reservation.

This was a very friendly family run (not chain) hotel with character and personality. We asked for a quiet room and got one at the end of a hall (it is older built and rooms on some floors are not soundproofed well, make sure to ask and stay on quieter weekdays). We spent a glorious Tuesday to Thursday when the hotel was not crowded and had the fantastic mural decorated indoor pool to ourselves. The breakfast buffet was AWESOME! and the family was there serving, as well as the alpenhorn for entertainment. My daughter loved everything and we could walk to downtown easily. Definitely recommend this to all - just remember the noise issue with some rooms and avoid it.

There are signs that this once top-rated hotel is beginning to lose its luster. Room furniture is scratched; only two "shot glass" glasses are provided in the room; bed was not properly made up for the second night's stay, etc., etc. Heard that the proprietors are investing heavily in a new property in town and this may be the reason for the apparent lack of attention to their existing property. Enzian remains a good place to stay but we shall look at alternatives next time we visit this area.

The room had extra niceties such as robes for the pools and a pool basket containing extra pool towels. The hotel has 2 very nice pools, one indoor and one outdoor. The complimentary breakfast was huge, with an omelet bar, granola, yogurts, fruits, pastries, breads, etc. The breakfast room is surrounded by picturesque mountain views. An 18 hole putting course, across the street, is free with the room in the summer. The main shopping area is an easy 2 block walk. We would definitely use this hotel for our next Leavenworth stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors with mountain views.

My kids and I made the 3 hour trip from Richland, WA because we needed a change of scenery. What a great trip! My kids are still asking to go back - And I am sure we will. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. I asked for a quiet room in my special requests and they gave me a top floor room with no one above me. I really appreciated that. The room was very clean and the mattresses were comfortable with nice down pillows and comforters. The room does not have many channels - but it did offer a DVD player free - so parents bring some movies to watch.
We were able to play a little golf across the street for no additional charge - the icicle resort down the road charges for theirs.
The breakfast is great with beautiful views from their 4th floor - and the kids got a real thrill from the horn player that plays at 8:15 and 9:15 - he really makes it fun for the kids...
The pools are amazing - the indoor pool is beautiful and relaxing.
Thanks for everything - could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms facing the pool are actually very nice and quiet. Also - parents bring DVD for the...

Family-owned and operated, the Enzian Inn is a wonderful place in which to relax and enjoy Leavenworth. The Inn is just a few minute walk to Front Street, the town's main street with most of the shops and restaurants. The Inn is immaculate, and it has two swimming pools--an outdoor pool, and a very large indoor heated pool (next to both pools are hot tubs). Across the street there is an 18-hole putting golf course (free for people who stay at the Inn). The owners have lavished a lot of love and attention on this place, and they have created a hotel with a very unique character. Don't miss the playing of the Alp Horn each morning from the balcony off the fourth floor by the owner, or the nightly piano concerts in the Lobby by local pianists (who play everything from classical pieces to show tunes to hymns, depending on the pianist). The second night we stayed at the Inn there was a large (and well-behaved) jazz choir from a high school staying at the Inn. The pianist invited the choir members to sing, and they did an impromptu concert. The pianist also encouraged my young son to play a piece he had composed himself. The Inn also offers an extensive breakfast each morning, including made-to-order omelettes, ham or similar meat, fruit, and an extensive array of fresh-baked pastries (the cinnamon rolls were still warm on the baking sheet). For an extra measure of comfort, reserve one of the VIP Suites on the fourth floor... they include free sparkling cider, a fireplace, a jacuzzi, a four-poster bed, and a sofa bed. My wife and I slept well, although the four-poster bed was a bit firmer than I care for. Also, if you have kids or others in the sofa bed in the VIP suite, you should know that the bathroom and shower is enclosed on one side by glass blocks, allowing you to see into the bathroom/shower area. You can't see much because the glass blocks provide a very distorted view of shapes. But it feels a little awkward as far as privacy is concerned if you bring along older kids.

Room Tip: VIP Suites on the fourth floor have four-poster beds, fireplaces, and your own jacuzzi tub.

We have traveled from AL to WA State several times, though we aren't avid travelers, to soak up the experiences so unique to Leavenworth and the beautiful, super clean Enzian Inn.We love the smells coming from the dining area beckoning us to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast (included) with enough variety to please the most picky eater. Mr Johnson on the Alp horn is an added treat everyone seems to enjoy. There is live piano music around the fireplace ea eve, hot choc, coffee or tea, and roasted nuts on weekends. You can check out snow skis, board games, clubs for mini golf, table tennis equipt, basketballs, and more for family fun at no extra charge. And there is so much to do in the Leavenworth area I'll have to do a separate review. Just go and make the Enzian part of your trip ( because it is half the fun ) and you will be glad you did!
