I have stayed at Obertal numerous times and intend to stay there again. We unexpectedly added another guest to our party and didn't get any hassles from the staff. The continental breakfast is always well stocked and I love the fresh waffle maker and fixings. The outdoor hot tub is great, but closes at nine.

I recently stayed with a friend for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. The staff here was very friendly and accommodating. The woman we booked with was very friendly and at the last minute we needed to change from a townhouse to a double room and that was no problem either. The price difference was promptly refunded. However where the staff really shined was my birthday. A sneaky friend of mine who lives in L.A. called Orbertal and explained it was my birthday and asked if they could do something in the room for my arrival. The gals apparently went to Safeway (on their own time) and picked up cupcakes, flowers, balloons, and sparkling and had it set up in the room when I entered. I was very surprised to say the least. My friend who arranged all of this raved about how friendly and helpful they were. A++ for staff!!

The hotel itself is in a great location and close to everything. The rooms were neat and clean, though mostly outdated. However, they did have a flat screen TV and the bathroom looked like it had been updated fairly recently. My biggest complaint was the harsh lighting. These new low energy twist bulbs put out the most unflattering, institutional lighting. My recommendation would be to get the special soft lighting bulbs, especially above the bathroom vanity.

A few other minor points, the in room guide (under amenities section) said free premium movie channels. We looked for 15 minutes and never found them. We asked about this at the front desk the following day and it turns out the do not have any movie channels, so the book is out of date. Also the E channel didn't exist for some reason, though it was listed in the channel guide. The phone in our room also didn't work - no dial tone or anything (and yes, we checked to make sure it was plugged in). Also minor but frustrating is that there was no pen or notepad in the room (the only place I have ever stayed without a pen). We had purchased some postcards in their lobby and couldn't find a pen down there so we figured we would just wait until we got in our room to fill them out. Nope! No pens to be found anywhere. The complimentary breakfast buffet was pretty decent. Though limited, everything seemed fresh and all tasted good. Finally, the outside building could use a little sprucing up. It's the old-school motel-style outside entry, which is fine but could use a little TLC.

Here's the bottom line: For the price, location and friendliness of staff you won't find a better deal in town. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor on the very end that backed up to an alley? Maybe it was a parking lot...

Excellent breakfast, love the Belgium Waffles! Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. You must visit the CheeseMonger deli if you would like to try excellent cheese and The Alley Café is an excellent Italain restaurant!

This was our first trip to Leavenworth in many years and we had no clue as to where to stay. Also, we were traveling with our small dog. Checking online information, we felt so very lucky to find Obertal Inn, just a block (or less) from all the shops & restaurants. It's had a few birthdays, but is very clean and well maintained & its age adds to the Barvarian ambience. Having a friendly staff & breakfast on-site were pluses, too. The only drawback is its being 2-stories & with no elevator. We'd be happy to stay there, again - but only in a 1st floor room. Being seniors, it's difficult to manage the stairs with luggage.

Room Tip: Two stories - no elevator.

Excellent staff courtesy when we arrived late on train. Got phone call and also Shuttle ordered to be at train station. We mistakenly thought close enough to walk easily from train station to the Inn. Room was clean and being able to watch Netflix was a plus !
