“Convenient and comfortable”
Reviewed 28 January 2011

We wanted to visit Leavenworth for Christmas and I chose this place on the basis of good recommendations here, plus the price, which seemed a bit high, but better than most. Some of the reviews said the rooms had a 'pet' smell and called it an 'older' hotel, but that was no deterrent--my partner is very sensitive\has allergies to flame retardants, formaldehydes in new carpets and building material and we often have problems with hotels, so we have no objections to an older place. We came on a Monday (my 'weekend') and we seemed to be among the few guests at the hotel, even in December. The manager was very gracious, and we got a room that seemed to have been recently remodeled, so we did have some problems with allergies, chemical exposures etc. Perhaps next time we will ask for one of the pre-refurbished rooms.

Besides that, (which we come to expect and deal with when traveling) the room was very comfortable, there was wi-fi, the king size bed was a joy to sleep on, and the location was great, close enough for a short walk to the main restaurants and shops but on a quieter street. The manager was very friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast room was pleasant. Much of the breakfast offerings were foods we can't eat, white flour, processed foods, etc. but we found enough to fill us up for some sightseeing and a hot breakfast elsewhere. Considering it was the holiday season, this seemed a good value, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

We come to Leavenworth two to three times a year and usually stay at the Evergreen but they couldn't accomidate us for just a one night stay and wanted a two night stay commitment. So we opted for the Obertal and I'm glad we did. Its closer to town (actually IN town) and we thought the service was very nice. I think we'll opt for the Obertal before the Evergreen from now on!!! We give it an A+ for service...:)

The rooms were nicely sized for all four of us, which gave us room for an extra mattress. The electric fireplace kept the room warm and cozy. Plus the location in town was perfect. Extra hot cocoa in the lobby, and the staff was nice as well ... Thank you!

This is an older hotel in Leavenworth, but has been upgraded and has several benefits. The price was the best I could find in town and the location is phenomenal. It's at the end of the main street, one street down, so, if you want to shop and just enjoy the town, it's perfect. The weather was so cold when we were there, it was nice to be in a clean room with a fireplace. The parking was free, and they let us stay parked there a few hours after checkout, which was nice. The breakfast was average - continental. Everything tasted good - just not much to chose from. But, all of the usual things, tea, coffee, juice, fruit, toast, cereal. It's not a luxury hotel, but I loved the fireplace in the room and the bed was king sized and super comfortable. We'll stay there again because we're budget travelers. It was just right for our needs and a nice get away.

We want to thank all our guests who wrote a review on Tripadvisor. We pay very close attention to these reviews so we can get a glimpse of what our guests want.

One message that has been coming through is that our breakfast is too skimpy, so we have some changes implemented by the end of January.

We have already upgraded our coffee to a super premium coffee and, as an espresso drinker myself; I can tell you it is excellent. Good body, low acidity and great flavor.

We are also adding yogurt as a daily offering and we are working on providing a warm topping for our French toast and Waffles. We are also experimenting with the best way to offer a nice fresh fruit salad every day.

Please keep the reviews coming. We love to hear what you think.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen, (with warm regards)

The Obertal Inn's great location in the very heart of Leavenworth is what drew us but it's the spacious, well-appointed room (including mini fridge & microwave) with space for 2 queen size beds and a rollaway cot that made our stay so enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast and friendly personnel ready to assist with our skiing, snowmobiling and snow tubing decisions were great! We spent each day at nearby Ski Hill and had a wonderful time. Dining options were many and just a short stroll from the Obertal Inn. With all the spas and shops nearby, the Obertal Inn is a great location for skiers and non-skiers alike.

We came with another family from Vancouver, Canada and met our other friends who arrived from Victoria a day after. The stuff were extremely friendly, and especially the owner, Hans who seemed to be on site all the time willing to help at any moment. He obviously enjoyed helping people and we felt very much welcome there. He was personally serving breakfast and we were very happy that our picky 8 years old had enough to chose from. So did we, the adults, coffee with French toast and cream-cheese, orange juice and fresh fruit. Location is the best you can imagine, right in the middle of the town from where you can walk everywhere. The building was very nicely decorated for Christmas. The rooms a bit outdated, but very clean. They are going to renovate the rooms and change beddings, so if we come back to Leavenworth, we would definetely try them again.

We stayed here in a Jacuzzi room this Christmas time on a Monday night. We had a doggie with us, cost $15 extra for the dogg. The room was clean. The hotel is right around the corner out from the main drag so it was not loud or on a busy road. A couple minute walk around the corner and u have the food places and the park down the hill to go hike or snowshoe with da doggie and the girlfriend. The staff are honest folks, my dumb @$$ left my Chief sweatshirt and ballcap that has sentimental value to me and they held on to it and sent it to me, now that's integrity. They had a continental breakfast, which is better than most hotels have so we were happy. I do believe for the price of the room, they should offer warm breakfast. Otherwise good, the coffee and tea bar was well stocked, so plus on that. The lady at front desk, Kim and her hubby were very nice, they helped us book a Sleigh Ride with (Red Tail Canyon Ranch?) It was enjoyable and very fun, the carriage driver was very friendly and the horses Luke and Duke did a marvelous job. We definitely will go back again next Chrismas time. I came in at 10pm and they didn't have any parking space left, so I parked on the street, next day, the city put a warm greeting on my windshield wiper that says my vehicle would be towed next time. Whoa, not nice! One drawback with Leavenworth is the spendy lodging cost during Christmas season. So be ready and have a thick wallet!

Hooyah!
