My husband and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary here. From the time we arrived to the time we left our experience was amazing. The room was very clean and the spa located in the gazebo was awesome and private. The location is a few blocks walk to the main downtown area. I would recommend Alps Romance Suites to anyone looking for a beautiful place to spend time together.

My husband and I stayed at The Suites for two nights in the beginning of spring. We pulled up to what we thought was a wrong address, but quickly realized we were in the right place when we saw the sign. Do not be fooled by the house you initially see! The 2 suites are below the house to the side, acess is incredibly easy and can be private. The room was truely a retreat, we almost didn't want to go into town! The music playing when we entered added a touch I've never encountered before, and although I laughed at first, it really was those small touches that rounded out our stay. There was a tray set up with chocolates, a wine opener and a bottle chilling in the automatic wine chiller, as well as instructions on how to connect to WiFi. The bed was older, but comfortable none the less. The infrared sauna was marvelous after a long day of walking. Most of all the bubbly hot tub, how cool is that?! I'm not sure if our stay was awesomely private because there was not a guest in the other suite, I would imagine two parties in their hot tub may be initially awkward, but there are privacy covers. We liked having the covers upen to look at the stars. If your looking for a hotel with the usual amenities, this is not for you. A quiet getaway without the mini shampoo bottles, private hot tub and a good nights rest is what The Alps can offer. We keep talking about how we can't wait to go back, and just have not made the time. Also because we weren't sure what to expect we brought a cooler and some goodies, which ended up being a good idea. We had everything we needed, and didn't have to leave if we didn't want to. We highly recommend the Alps for your next quiet trip to Leavenworth, when your looking for relaxation and a break from busy city corporate life!

Very clean, quiet cozy valentines day weekend. The private hot tub and sauna were amazing amenities to have access too! The sheets and blanket had a clean fresh smell, no usual stuffy hotel lysol smell....that was nice for a change. No place to put your clothes, wine cooler instead of fridge and ran out of hot water just before checkout....main complaints....but over pretty happy with our stay away from the kids! The decor looks like a work in progress, a mix of modernish with thrift store bears figurines...if anything provided some conversational fun, lol.

Room Tip: This is a small hike from downtown leavenworth...you may want to walk in the spring, but if you are here when its cold....I hope u have a car...brrr!

My husband and I stayed here for the Christmas tree-lighting in early December 2012, and after I booked I read the reviews here and was very nervous that our trip would be awful based on some of the reviews. However, I would best describe this place as "not-quite." It is good enough, but certainly not great, because it lacks the easy details. For a few hundred bucks, these rooms could be really nice, but as they are now, there is no chest of drawers...instead an old entertainment center that is likely left over from the time before flat-screen TVs, and not useful for unpacking clothes. There is no closet or place to hang clothes other than 2 hooks in the bathroom. Yet, we were told that irons are not provided or even allowed in our room, and to iron our hanging clothes before we came (and then, of course, not be able to hang them up!). There is not a fridge, only a small wine cooler that holds just a couple of bottles and didn't even get them all that cold. For a place that is not a bed and breakfast and doesn't serve food, it would be nice to provide a mini fridge. There are no towel racks in the bathroom, so we didn't have a place to hang them up to dry even though towels are not replaced each day. I don't mind re-using towels, but I don't like having to re-use them damp because we couldn't hang them properly to dry. The sheets didn't fit properly on the bed...we constantly had to get out of bed to replace the corners of the fitted sheet. The towels and the bathrobes that they rave about were not soft, they were crusty as if they had been line-dried.
The sauna that is so highly showcased was extremely tiny...if both of us had gotten in it we would have had to be touching each other. Personally I think this was a waste of money to install, we didn't even use it and would much rather have had a closet in its place. The hot tub was nice, and did seem to be as-advertised. We used it a couple of times and enjoyed it, however it would have been nice to have a walkway leading to it that was shoveled...we had to walk through the snow.
The walkway from the parking area is loose rock in some parts, making it nearly impossible to shovel snow from, so it was a slushy mess. There was a very long delay to get the walkway even shoveled after it had snowed, so we had to trudge through it to get to our room, getting dripped on from the roof while we were trying to get the key out and door open (some gutters or an awning would be nice).
I realize all of these details are very small in themselves, and would not be a big deal...but when you add them all up, I felt like this place is simply not worth the money we paid. The nice hot tub and the fact that they provide a small $15 tub of fudge does not make up for missing so many easy details. I would not stay there again or recommend to others. The proximity to the town is also inflated a bit...yes, it's only about 3 blocks to the main road, but nearly a half-mile to the area where all the tree-lighting takes place. We ended up driving each time due to the weather and snow.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. You mentioned that you focused on the negative reviews - you were "very nervous" prior to your arrival which meant that you had not seen the suite or any of the amenities prior to your early focus. We are concerned that with your focus there, you were unable to have an open perspective so that you could enjoy the suite and the amenities. Is this possible?

It appears from your lengthy list of items that you wanted to share your feelings about that we did not have much of a chance to make you happy. That is frustrating to us because although we understand that we cannot possibly please everyone...we sure do try.

We appreciate that you found the Alps Romance Suites "good enough". We agree that having chester drawers in addition to the existing suit case would be nice to have however, we chose to have an infra-red sauna in each suite in place of the closet/dresser and we think that the infra-red sauna is a lot more enjoyable for our guests to have in the suite for their enjoyment. We do have at least two (some suite have three) available clothing hooks - that each hold four hanging items - in each suite in addition to a display cabinet in each suite that has cabinets availble to store personal items.

You are correct that we do not supply irons. Unfortunatley careless previous guest spoiled it for others. After an additional time that a guests accidentally dropped an iron onto the carpet and burned it, we said no more. We hope that everyone can understand that.

There is a refrigerator in each suite and it is unfortunate that you were not aware of that as the explaination with instructions are listed on the laminated document that is located on the bed for arriving guests to review. The wine cooler and refrigerator combination is an excellent amenity in that each guest can set their own temperature to meet their personal cooling needs. We like that we give the option of personal choice to our guests.

There are towel hooks on the wall next to the shower/bath in each suite. It is unfortunate that you did not see them. We do not understand your comments that the sheets did not fit on the bed. The beds are queen size and the sheets are queen size as well. The infra-red sauna is sized for average-sized adults and is considered a two-person sauna but we agree that it is not a large sauna. Only two persons at a time are allowed to lodge in the suites so the infra-red saunas are designed to meet that need.

We appreciate that you mentioned that the "hot tub was nice and appeared to be as it was advertised". Leavenworth is a winter destination resort town. During the winter, we get a lot of snow so it snows frequently. We snowblow each day but we cannot be present at each snow fall. Just in case it snows right after we snowplowed (a common occurrence in Leavenworth during the winter), each suite has a snow shovel placed right next to the French doors for the suite just in case the snow keeps on coming. The snow in Leavenworth is beautiful which draws many tourists to Leavenworth in the winter. Sitting in a hot tub inside a gazebo with a roof while watching snowflakes fall around you is a wonderful experience enjoyed by many.

There is mountain river rock on part of the walkway. We frequently remove the snow from the walkway with ease.

We appreciate that you stated that your list of items "are very small in themselves and not a big deal". We only wish that you would have been open-minded prior to arriving at the Alps Romance Suites so you could have thoroughly enjoyed the amenities rather than spending time creating a list of "very small items".

You mentioned that the $15.00 tub of fudge did not make up for your list. The chocolate is not fudge as it is pure Belgian Chocolate Truffle Silk Sauce that you ordered as an extra amenity so that you could dip your preferred items into. The chocolate liquor comes directly from Belgium and it sounds like you enjoyed that.

We appreciate that you mentioned that the suites are located about 3 blocks to the village. It is actually 2-1/2 blocks to the village but we understand that everyone has different needs. During the winter, it will snow on the guests as they walk to the village so it is important to have proper clothing for the 2-1/2 block walk.

We have tried to address each of your comments. We are sorry to hear that you will not return or recommend the suites to others. Although it is dissappointing to us, we agree that a different lodging setting would be best for you and we wish you the best.

Clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the spa (they're private with curtains, but relatively close to other guests' spas). The room was good and I managed to break a wine glass but the owners didn't mind. We'll probably go back for the great price.
