“MHL Not just a destination, but an experience.”
Reviewed 3 March 2011

We've stayed at MHL twice and both times the accomodations were perfect and the service outstanding. The food four star at every meal. The owners were always available and all our needs were met even before we asked for anything! The setting for a relaxing romantic getaway is absolutely spectacular and our hosts made sure we had any equipment needed for outdoor activities as well as information and food for hikes. Truly a wonderful home away from home!

While perfect ratings all around may seem extreme, I cannot think of one negative thing to say about the Mountain Home Lodge. I never felt as if we were over-indulging, yet we never wanted for anything the entire weekend. It was...perfect. I was skeptical about Leavenworth being a little cheesy, but MHL was, as they say "1,000 feet closer to heaven" and it's 1,000 feet away from anything even remotely tacky. Serene, romantic, warm, delicious, friendly - we came to reconnect and leave jobs, etc. as far behind as possible. We achieved everything by simply showing up and turning our weekend over to Brad, Kathy and their perfect spot in the beautiful Cascades. We snagged an open room at the last minute and we were rewarded with exclusive, gorgeous mountain trails for snowshoeing, great company, a warm, comfortable room and delicious food and wine. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Brad, Kathy and the MHL crew!

We stayed in one of the two cabins which was cozy and private, of course. But we joined other guests in the comfy lodge for great meals. I couldn't think of a better place to spend a few days.

Charlotte & I hae been going to Mountain Home for 20 years. The Scjhmidts are like family to us. The beautiful lodge, great snow and freedom to do whatever we want (snowshoe the great trails, sled the great run or just read) is great. Relaxation is made complete by the great meals (from Tom the Chef) which are preceded each evening by wine, ordervours and friendly conversation with the other guests. The friendly service (or should I say pampering) by Brad, Kathy & daughter Brecklin Schmidt and staff is great.
If you want to enjoy nature and the best of people, this is the place. The beauty of the mountains & wildlife is only beat by the treatment. I couldn't recommend this more.

This is a special place, run and staffed by special people. A gorgeous setting in the Washington Cascades, 3 miles and 1100 feet above Leavenworth. Winter is the most spectacular, with snowshoeing, cross country sking and the best sledding hill I've ever seen; but we've also enjoyed wildflowers in the spring with access to spectacular hiking trails. Accommodations range from small rooms with private bath to w super deluxe cabins. But look at their web site. It describes everything far better than I can.

My husband and some friend of ours spent the New Years up at the lodge. What a great time. You are taken up on a snow cat as there is a lot of snow at that time of year. The rooms are cozy, the food is excellent and plenty of it. We enjoyed the snow shoeing with some spectacular views, eating a great lunch and then out to the sled hill for lots of laughter. It is by far the best sled hill, and they even tow you back up the hill on the back of the snow mobil. Our friend and my husband and I laughed so much on this trip. If you are looking for a quiet place to spend New Years Eve, I would highly recommend this. The staff is warm, friendly and have a great sense of humor.

My husband and I stayed at Mountain Home Lodge for a weekend in January, with another couple. The Lodge was everything we hoped for and more. Food was fantastic. Service couldn't have been friendlier or more comprehensive. The facilities (hot tub, snowshoe equipment, sled tubes) that we used were first-rate, and the hosts ever so helpful when it came to selecting the right snowshoe adventure for us. We had such a good time, we've already booked a weekend for next year (with an extra night so we can relax more!) The only thing i'd improve on would be to get a more comfortable mattress--the one we had was very firm. That's probably just a personal preference. When we came back to civilization on Sunday, i felt like we'd been away for a week rather than just 2 days. The remoteness is wonderful!
