This is a great walking beach, either in the sand, or along the paved path that goes from the main part of town north for miles.

a wide, long expanse of sand and sea. crisp salt air and the constant sound of crashing surf. sunsets are amazing. frisbee can be challenging, but kite flying is easy. lots of happy dogs who don't seem to mind the cold water... nice people too. there's a boardwalk, but sand in the toes is part of the attraction for me. also a great paved trail for bikes.

They say it's the longest beach in the world or America. Either way it's crazy long. You can drive on the beach. Speed limit is 25 mph and they do give tickets. Enjoy!

I really like that there is the main touristy area but you can drive and check out the rest of the peninsula too and see all kinds of cool things! From deer crossing the street to sea lions off the north jetty to eagles and seagulls...the nature is just awesome. Oh and that little ocean is pretty cool too. We had great weather sunny but windy. Perfect for kite flying (or watching!).
We went in April during spring break and were surprised that it wasn't busier. We also visited Seaside and Ocean Shores which were both insanely busy so we were really glad that we chose Long Beach!
I recommend staying at the Akari Bungalows if you are a couple or small family. There are plenty of good restaurants in town too. Ask the people in town for their recommendations!

When you look for a beach town, it's not always just about the sand and the ocean, you want things in town to see and do, Long Beach has just that. Lots of little shops, and unique flair all to its own, it's always nice to visit, though during big events the town does get a bit run over, but if you can deal with the crowds, it is still worth the time.
