Be sure to stay at the Inn rather than the adjacent Adrift hotel sister property Top floor is quietest, fabulous ocean view from all Inn rooms
No elevator Dogs only OK on first floor: still, dog- friendly
Great relatively inexpensive great food great value restaurant best in town Pickled Fish on top floor of Adrift hotel also has live music most nights Walking and bicycling path out your door, beach right there, walk 2 blocks to town Breakfast basket with scones, fruit, juice daily at 0830 delivered to room Suspect crowded in summer, nice in September tho

This hotel had everything to accomodate that perfect romantic getaway! It's a smaller sized hotel, isolated from it's parent hotel (Adrift). All the rooms in this hotel is ocean view and I believe it's the only hotel on the coast closest to the beach! Adrift hotel is a high traffic area as the main drag is a popular entrance/exit to the beach and most people is stopping into their restaurant upstairs (Pickled Fish) to enjoy some good eatery while listening to nightly live music! Discovery Inn is great because you can enjoy the ammenities at Adrift than go back to the secluded Discovery Inn hotel within walkling distance. The rooms are spacious with that modern cabin feel and the corner rooms contain a large hot tub with jets that fits two people! Every morning, they drop off a basket of organic fruits, bread and OJ. I like that this hotel caters to a healthier diet as well as they support their local farms. Being a bit closer to the beach than most hotels on Long Beach, you can definitely step out of your balcony and enjoy the scenery that much closer. One advise is that I would recommend trying to grab a room on the third floor. We stayed on the second floor and you can hear walking noise upstairs pretty badly. I believe even tip-toeing could be heard as well. Based on other reviews on here about thin ceilings, may I suggest getting a room on the third floor. If we had the third floor, I would've rated this hotel 5 stars.

Room Tip: Get a room on the third floor to avoid any ceiling noise. Rooms on the corner have a 2 person jetted...

My husband and I brought our dog (fee) and stayed in the beach studio. It is a lower floor unit. There is not a view from the room. There is a little deck area with one chair (?) and a small table. There is a very small yet functional fireplace in the room- The room is furnished modestly but nicely. It is a very short walk to the boardwalk and beach. This is a nice little get away- I do have to state what others have you can hear every noise above and around you in these units. The sounds of everything and everyone are heard-( yes everything). You can go to the lobby or call the lobby in the am and you will receive a nice little breakfast basket. There are movies and bicycles in the lobby for patrons. All in all this was a nice get away- the only drawback was hearing more than we wanted- we also ate at the restaurant on site The Pickled Fish. The food was average- service slow and their "small plates" are small, yet pricey.

hubby and i brought our dogs on a road trip and stayed here the second leg. we had room 12 (beach house suite) and loved it! spacious, bright, and gorgeous. no ocean view as it's below the mound of wild grass, but it's just a short walk to the sand. there is a free breakfast basket each morning and to get one of the pastries subbed for gluten-free was a piece of cake. fabulous coffee in the room, organic toiletries, bikes/helmets/locks available to borrow, horseback riding a block away, walk into town. away from the noise of the adrift hotel, the main property. i'll definitely be back!

We spent a busy Labor Day weekend in the loft suite. It was a very spacious, comfortable, clean room. This room does have a full kitchen but if you are really planning on cooking meals I would recommend bringing your own utensils & cooking gear. The location of the inn is perfect for the beach, biking and some beautiful walking/light hikes. We also had two good meals at the onsite restaurant. The Inn and it's next door sister Adrift Hotel are a little funky in a good beachy sort of way. Love the free bicycle amenity and the big soaking tub in our room. I agree with some of the other comments that it is a bit on the noisy side, we could definitely hear our neighbors, even being on the top floor, but it wasn't problematic for us.

Room Tip: Splurge on the Inn House if you can.

We had a great weekend at the Inn/Adrift. The properties are on the same lot. The Inn has more privacy, bigger rooms and is located on the edge of the Beach. You have a small walk through the thin paths through the grass and your there. The views from the rooms are great. We were able to bring our dog for a small fee of $15.
The rooms are decorated in a simplistic, modern reclaimed look. Large plank reclaimed floors, bed frames made of two by fours, driftwood mantles. Very clean lines, nice colors, art work to give it a warm and up to date look. Very creative, done on a budget.
Yes the floors creak and if your on the bottom floor it may be annoying to some. It wasn't enough to ruin our weekend like some have mentioned.
We loved the new restaurant/bar Pickled Fish. Service was a bit slow but working out their kinks. Food was great and we got to see Jerry Joseph and the Jack Mormons for free in a small setting. Jerry puts it down. We looked at the upcoming music schedule and it was loaded with established Portland music acts coming out for single performance or weekend shows. If you are a local of the area and love music this place is a god send.
The whole complex and concept is refreshing. They took a old crappy hotel and turned it into something cool.

This has been one of our favorite places to go for the cozy rooms and location. We were coming for our usual relaxing weekend away here and was disappointed this time by how noisy it was. We've stayed in different rooms here on the bottom floor and the top. I don't remember it being so loud where we could hear the heavy walkers above us and all those around us. The walls need to be better insulated so you can't hear everything that is going on. Despite having instructions asking guests to not use the jetted tubs late at night, people did. They offer a lovely breakfast basket that you call the front desk for, apparently people could not figure out the number so when we finally were able to get some sleep, we were awoken by early calls to our room for breakfast basket orders. Unplugged the phone after that. We really loved this place in the past, this time not so much. For the $$ we spent I expected it to be like it was the other times we have been there. There are so many good things about this place but the noise made it not so relaxing this time. A little more insulation would go a long way.
