“quiet and relaxing”

our unit was overlooking the golf course. For golfers, this is an ideal resort. There is a gym in the complex as well as a swimming pool We went for walks every day and it is only 5 minutes drive from the small town of Lynden. The resort is very close to the USA/Canada border which is very convenient. We enjoyed our stay at the resort and went to the "all you can eat" waffles breakfast at US$3.00 twice during our stay. We went on several day trips to nearby towns. The weather was good when we were there and it didn't rain during our stay.

“Peaceful start to road trip”
Reviewed 30 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were travelling from Canada and found this to be very convenient to get away across the border and unwind before we started our trip south. This place is close to the border, close to shops, golf course right on site.
We explored the town, checked out the antique shops, picked up a few things, cooked on the barbecue and wandered around for a bit.
Could turn out to be a great place for golf getaway or cross border shopping getaway in the furute. For us it was a peaceful start to a long trip.

“Beautiful and easy access”

My wife and I travelled with friends and stayed a week at Homestead. This was our first time in Lynden and at Homestead. It was easy to find and close to the border near Aldergrove BC. Arriving in the afternoon, our registration went smoothly and we stayed in a two bedroom in the second building on the second floor, facing the golf course. It had a beautiful view of the mountains and the golf course. Amenities were top class with steam shower, flat screen tv's, jet tub, and fully stocked kitchen. Shared washer and dryer were on the first floor but we didn't find that a problem. We found that it was easy access to the highways to connect with Bellingham (15-20 minutes) and to travel back to Canada. During our stay we ate at most of the local restaurants and particularly enjoyed the breakfast at Fairway Cafe. We golfed once here and twice at a nearby course called Shuksan. I liked both courses. We would stay here again, particulary during the local Razz Fest. Lots of local booths, food and the street ball tournament made for a great week.

“Hotel was dated and the surrounding countryside has lots of dairy farms.”

A friend and I went for a girls getaway weekend. The room was okay. It was comfortable, clean, and well stocked. The furniture seemed to have been collected from many different decorating styles, so it was a slightly strange combination. All in all, the building seems dated and in need of renovation - about on par with a Holiday Inn. They had breakfast snacks available downstairs, or make-your-own belgian waffles for a fee. The concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful.

The general area (the valley) is prime dairy country. It's beautiful, and three cheers for wonderful dairy products, but that means not such great-smelling air. We went on a beautiful weekend and were looking forward to opening the windows for an evening breeze, but we ended up sleeping with the A/C on to minimize the smell. Even during the day, we wanted to head to the coast to get some fresher air. I have nothing against cows or agriculture, but it detracted from the overall vacation experience.

Frankly, I wouldn't go again. For those with Vacation Internationale points, they are better used at their other properties.

This is the place to go if you want shopping - that's in Bellingham; if you want to play in the snow - that's at Mt. Baker; if you want to relax - that's in your spacious accomodations that we found meticulously clean.
