“Quiet and relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for one night and I wish we had booked one more night. We arrived after the front desk was closed so that was a bit of a pain but relatively easy to deal with as long as you have your reservation number. The unit was clean and very quiet. I had stayed at another hotel the night before and didn't sleep well so I chose to sleep on the pull out couch in the living room where it was quiet and dark. I slept like a baby. The bedroom in the morning was cold and at night the lights from the parking lot shone into the room so I doubt I would have slept well in there. Our room had a small gas fire place but I couldn't figure out how to turn it on which was a bummer. The bathroom had a steam bath setting that I was dying to try but since we needed to be on the road early the next morning I wasn't able to try. I would recommend those wanting a nice place that is relaxing and slow paced to come stay here. I hope to be back soon just to relax.

We stayed in this resort for a weekend using our VI points and we didn't golf. Check in was easy and we were given towels for the pool and instructions on how to access it and the attached fitness centre. Maps of the resort and the town as well as the free wi-fi password were part of the check in package. It also included a list of local restaurants letting you know which were open Sundays in this (at one time) very religious town. We had booked a one bedroom and found it was a good size, fully equipped with a small but full kitchen (stove with oven, dishwasher, microwave, good size fridge with a big freezer and all the equipment you would need for weekend cooking) and a gas fireplace. The bathroom had a steam shower my husband enjoyed but it took 20 minutes to heat up so I didn't bother. The unit was very clean and smelled clean too.

We used the onsite pools and they were nice but busy before 9pm when it becomes adult only. Since the fitness centre and pools seem to operate as the neighbourhood community centre, it is a very busy place. There is an indoor and an outdoor hot tub and the small swimming pool extends from indoors to outdoors. The exercise area is well equipped but was crowded early in the day.

We ate dinner in the bistro and had a very good meal. The restaurant looked lovely but it was empty the weekend after New Years.

The negatives were small and few. We faced the parking lot and were on the ground floor neither of which I would recommend. The parking lot is separated from your room only by the window, a two foot planting and a three foot sidewalk. Even in the daytime, anyone walking by can read the newspaper over your shoulder. The bedroom was warm at night and you are instructed to not turn the air conditioning down below 69 degrees so we opened the window the second night but that made for a worrisome sleep being on the ground floor with a sliding window that didn't have any way to secure it once it was open. There was a strip of the kitchen counter top missing between the stove and the sink. The only other issue, and it was very annoying, was the living roof sofa. It was a pull out that may have been put away incorrectly. It was impossible to sit and read or watch TV on it as the cushions kept sliding out and we would soon be hanging into space. Both the back and the seat cushions kept trying to remove themselves from the sofa as you sat on it. It was close to the world's worst couch. We took it part way apart to try and remedy it but then gave up. We should have spoken to the desk about it but didn't bother for a 2 night stay.

All in all, a nice spot to stay and get away in a pretty part of Washington. We will go back.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the ground floor and the parking lot view.

We just spent three days and two nights at Homestead Resort. We both agreed we'd return without hesitation. Quiet, convenient to everything you might need, with beautiful grounds, complimented by very professional and friendly staff, this place is a polished jewel. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. We stayed in a studio, but it had a full kitchen! So we were able to cook in and visit local eateries. Our studio overlooked the golf course with snow-capped Mt. Baker in the distance about one hour away. I was SO tempted to play a round of golf, but instead we went into Lynden and shopped for antiques, checked out the local food fare, and just did some walking and sightseeing. Have to go back to play on those gorgeous greens!

Room Tip: Rooms looking East have best views. 1BR units in bldg 2 have fireplaces!

We spent only one night here since we we were on our way to Sun Peaks. Homestead was a nice halfway point. We arrived early and couldn't check in but we were able to get tee time and played 9 holes, then checked in to a 1 bedroom condo. We had the parking lot view, unfortunately, but since we were there only one night it was OK. We walked over to the golf course restaurant, Steakhouse 9, which was closed, but the Bistro 9 lounge was open and had a wonderful happy hour menu! We ate on the large deck looking out at the golf course. Beers were only $2, and we had delicious food at 1/2 price. Highly recommend:-)

We stated in a nice, roomy studio with a view of the golf course. Enjoyed the sun and pool. The steak house and lounge were beautiful and the food was great. Although I don't golf, I had several people tell me it was a great course. The exercise room is one of the best I have seen. Very nice, professional staff. Beautiful landscaping

We had a lovely weekend at the resort. The rooms had everything we needed and the town is a very cute and clean place to visit. Rented bikes at the resort and enjoyed the trails through the community. Rooms are very clean and well equipped. The staff were extremely helpful. Waffle breakfast for $3 a head is a hit too. The Lynden City Park is the best park for little kids I've ever seen.

Room Tip: Our room faced the parking lot and was very bright in the morning. The wooden blinds in our room di...
