casual and clean, right on the wonderful trail system, if you have horses there's even a place for them here, or have your kids bring their bikes. There are lots of easy beautiful trails right outside the door ( right on the ski trails in the winter if you enjoy cross country it cant be beat). You can walk to the store or the Inn next door has a restaraunt thats really pretty good!Sit on the Porch ,read a book or hang out on the hammock. Rock climbing practice rock is right down the road. Cool off in the river, hook up with the local paragliders and go for a tandem...LOTS OF AMAZING HIKES ( cutthroat is especially great in the spring with all the beautiful flowers)

Room Tip: I've never had a bad one

My friends and I have been staying at the Ranch House during President's day weekend every year for over 20 years. We rent the 5 bedroom 2 bath house, all 8 side rooms and the small Long Horn cabin. The house has a full kitchen and large dining table. It is not luxury but it is clean and comfortable. Of the side rooms, 4 have 2 queen beds and 4 have 1 queen bed. They all have a full bath and small kitchenette with a small fridge, hot plate and microwave. The Chicken Coop (a large game and tv room in a separate building) and hot tub are available for all to use. Everything is clean and well maintained. There is always high demand for the side rooms. They were added about 15 years ago. The Long Horn cabin is a studio with a loft and is rustic and fun. Steve has a comfortable, laid back management style but is very responsive and helpful. There are miles of groomed cross-country ski tracks that run through the Methow Valley accessed right outside the door and the setting is beautiful and quiet.

I have stayed here twice in 2 years and love the friendly and knowledgable staff, the comfort and facilities for my horses and of course the proximity to the Methow Valley trail system. The kitchen set up saved us lots of money and Steve was extremely helpful and accomodating. He caters to horse people and is very common sense, no nonsense in his approach which suited us just fine. His hay was an amazing good deal and I brought a ton of it home with me; my horses have thrived on it. I will be back often!

Steve was very unhelpful and unfriendly over the phone. I tried booking many rooms for my family over an entire weekend. I found out a few weeks before we were to arrive that Steve had given one of the rooms away. He was unapologetic. Half of my family ended up staying at the Mazama Country Inn next door.

We booked a room for (only!) 1 night for logistical purposes -- closest lodging over the North Cascades from Portland. Very reasonable, *very* peaceful and relaxing and of course extremely beautiful surroundings. The room was wonderful. We had a 2 bed room, very roomy with kitchenette facilities, roomy *full* bath, doors out to porches on both sides. If we had the choice, we would have stayed here all 4 nights, but our plan was to go to Lake Chelan to swim, then to Leavenworth and hike. If you need a mental vacation, Mazama is the place to go. The Ranch House is very reasonable for modest travelers like us.

After driving through the Methow Valley, Washington, in the summer of 2006, my boyfriend and I knew we had to return to this beautiful area. This summer, we wanted to get away for a long weekend starting July 4th, and we wanted to bring our horses with us.
We called several places, and finally settled on the Mazama Ranch House, which is located in the tiny town of Mazama, at the north end of the Methow Valley.
We knew as soon as we arrived we had made the right choice. Our room, at the end of the main house, was small and simple, but very comfortable. Out back we found the corrals, and our two horses seemed very happy with the paddock we selected. Within minutes, we had the water troughs filled and tossed them some hay, which was available at a mere $5/bale.
In the room we found a nice binder full of maps of the local trails. We couldn't wait to get started.
There is great riding to be had right off the property; we spent the first day riding several hours on well-marked trails that took us past farms, through trees, up a ravine, and through the valley. We took advantage of the large hot tub to relax our weary muscles and had a pleasant night's sleep.
Over the next three days, we both rode the trails off the property as well as took a short trailer ride (15 minutes) to a great trailhead in the North Cascades National Park.
We really enjoyed our fellow guests, sharing a campfire one night and an impromptu movie on the lawn another.
Just across the road from the Ranch is the Mazama Country Inn, where we had a couple of nice breakfasts and a nice buffet on the evening of the the Fourth.
We really enjoyed our stay, and will certainly be returning to the Mazama Ranch House in the future.
