From the outside, the Moonstone Beach Motel looks a little worse for wear. But don't be fooled because the parts that matter most are excellent. The room was cozy and warm on a rainy June weekend. The view was exceptional with nothing blocking the beach and ocean. I loved the little kitchen and it had everything I needed to cook delicious meals. And it was easy to manage my two wet dogs with the provided dog towels. I would not recommend room 3 for tall folks as the bathroom has a funky sloping ceiling that requires a bath or kneeling shower but for me, it was perfect for a bubble bath. But the most important part was that it was super clean and the bed was wonderfully comfortable with luxurious linens and towels. And then there's the beautiful, car-free beach where my doggies got to run and play for hours on end. On Saturday, the sun came out and we were treated to the most stunning sunset. This is a lovely place and a great, affordable getaway where you can bring your pets.

This is my third stay at the Moonstone since 1999. I absolutely love this motel. It isn't elegant in any way, shape, or form, but it has a great location, helpful and friendly managers, and pretty much anything goes so long as you're being respectful of others. We just spent a sunny weekend here, and there were very few people on the beach. Very relaxing! The managers provided charcoal to help us use the grill for our steaks. They also provided good tips for places to go in the area. I recommend Seagate Bar and Restaurant. We ate dinner and breakfast here. Great food and large portions. Everything about our stay was positive. This is a great getaway for families, friends, etc. Just keep your expectations low re: pristine conditions. The linens and towels are clean, but the floors have sand in them and management depends on guests to clean up after themselves.

Room tip: Room #5 has an oven in case you'd like to cook. It also has high ceilings for taller people.

Loved the place, the people, and how close we were to the beach! It is so nice to find a pet friendly place too! The rooms were great and accommodating. The only thing I would have liked were more eating establishments in the area, but the Moonstone is Fantastic!!!! Kid friendly and pet friendly places are the best. AMAZING!!!!

My wonderful experience with Moonstone began with several phone calls with Jim, one of the managers, who was a delight to deal with, warm, friendly, and flexible. I don't like big impersonal hotels and usually try to rent a house when I travel, but this was for business, and I could only stay two days and so booked a studfio room at the Moonstone. But I felt like I was in a little house, with a full kitchen, marvelous ocean view, and mere steps out the back door onto the beach. The room was clean, and the price was very reasonable. The bed was heavenly, espcecially since I had worked very late hours both nights I stayed. As other reviews have stated, Moonstone is not fancy but is the best choice if you're looking for charm and heart. I only regret that I couldn't stay longer, and I will definitely be back.

We have been going to the Moonstone for over TWO DECADES! Don't let the secret out about this wondrous place!! It's a little rough around the edges but that's the Charm. You can bring your Dogs (and pay a reasonable Pet deposit), you can walk out to the surf late at night with a Beer (or a glass of Wine) via a sturdy well lit "Bridge". You can sit outside, telling jokes or having a BBQ and as long as your not raising complete hell nobody messes with you (and will actually join in). When you are ready for sleep, it is dead quiet....and toasty warm, with no Car doors slamming or horns honking. Everything you need: comfortable Beds/Blankets/Pillows/Dishes-Pots and Pans...lots of TP AND Beach towels if you request them. This place is a hidden Jewel. Please don't tell anyone. Jeff Schroeder, Puyallup, Washington.
