“Feels like coming home..”
Reviewed 15 February 2013

This was our 4th trip to Moonstone at Moclips, and our first stay in a lower unit. We stayed in room 4 this trip.I was pleasantly surprised that even the lower unit had a pretty good ocen view (not quite as good as upper units) Lower unit was much easier to access with door right near the car.Room was very comfortable and front porch covered (perk to having lower room) Room seemed a little bigger (even though is carbon copy of room 5 above it) Bed very comfortable ,bathtub huge, this room has a larger television and a big cushy chair. Kitchen a little better laid out, than other rooms we've had. Management was top par again and the most helpful and friendly as could be. (we forgot our flashlights for digging razor clams at night and mngmt. lent us a very nice lamp to use) We left the dogs home this time ..but wish we'd brought them..the large front porch would have been perfect place for them to hang out. Dogs are allowed in the Moonstone...(but my dogs are very rambunctious and hairy...& at home are in outside kennels so get overheating when come inside) One NOT perk of lower unit is noise of upper unit. This trip unit 5 above us had 2 big beatifull black labs and the noise of them bouncing and jumping and even tails thumping on the ground could have been annoying. It didn't bother us ..we just smiled .... envisioning happy tail thumping dogs. BUT something to keep in mind if you think it would bother you..rent an upper unit.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean view, better view upper units. Lower units easier access, and have covered porc...

We stayed in room 5. This is an older, quirky, and rustic motel right on the beach. Rooms are clean, perfect for a small family, and very pet friendly. Definitly 60-70's era, fun to take a trip back into time! We appreciated the pet friendly atmosphere complete with dog towels and blankets when you check in. Wonderful to hear the waves crashing on the beach during the night and sit and have coffee while watching the sun rise. We loved staying so close to the beach. My only complaint was the mold around the beach facing windows (I am very allergic to mold). I came home with horrible alergies and sinusitus. It would do wonders to the room to update the windows. This would not only fix the mold problem but also improve visibility which almost completely blocks the georgous veiw when there is moisture in the room.
We did have a great time and will stay again - maybe late summer when things have had a chance to dry out.

My husband, dog, and I, took a spontaneous trip to the ocean last week to get out from under the veil of fog that had been hanging over the Puget Sound for over a week. There was a room open at the Moonstone and I knew right away that we would make a reservation when I spoke with Patty....the woman who runs the motel. She was ever-so pleasant and was so very enthusiastic about us bringing our dog. We found the motel to be very rustic but really clean and the service was fantastic. We will return. Thank you Patty and Jim.

I've stayed at the Moonstone House twice now and both stays were great. The house has fabulous views and lots of open space, but also plenty of room if one wants a quiet space. The house is always spotlessly clean, appliances are newer and kitchen is well stocked. You check in through the nice people at the Moonstone Beach Motel which is just down the road and so is very handy in case you need anything or have any questions. Will stay here again!

Just spent a great Christmas at the pacific house in Moclips! We came with three generations of family and really enjoyed the house. The bedrooms are great downstairs and the loft was great for the kids and another couple of parents. The dining table was perfect for the whole party and the kitchen was sufficient for cooking Christmas dinner etc. wifi is good, toiletries in the bathrooms were appreciated. Would highly recommend.

I have been staying at the Moonstone for 37 years, it has changed very little, and when it is torn down soon and a newer one takes its place, I shall miss it. Yes it is run down, and needs some repair, but for what I need it works very well, and it is the ONLY place to stay directly on the beach. The Moonstone Motel "is what it is" with its linoleum floors, you can always hear what room your dog is in as their nails click accross the floor. I do not go to the beach to sit in a motel room and critique it. All the rooms have a kitchen TV and everything else you need at the beach. The people I have met there have always been relaxed and friendly. If you want to know if you will like it, click on and read the"terrible" reviews, if these people sound like you, keep on going down the street!

Room Tip: all the rooms are good

We came for the Fall Razor Clam season and had a great time. Weather wild and stormy , but we were safe and warm in our room. Moonstone is an older but very charming motel with friendly helpfull managers.(board games and books available to borrow) Kitchens are well stocked with all you need to cook and serve a simple meal.*Note* (Advise to do grocery stock up on route at larger grocery retailer, once you arrive you won't want to leave) Beds are comfortable and cozy, extra sleeping space and bedding availble. Bath is good, water pressure is excellent and water is hot! Living area is comfortable, TV reception not always great, but hey..who really cares when the ocean beach is literally right out your door! No cell phone service...but again , who cares! Moonstone does have free wi-fi, for those that can't live with out thier devices. We did need the wi-fi and instant message to communicate with family and friends coming to visit..so did come in handy.Room has a journal for guests to write in and share thier experiences...very fun to read ! Moonstone really makes you feel at home and comfortable, it is older and it shows in places, but I felt it added to the charm. If your expecting fancy and new...then stay at the Hilton. If you want pet/kid friendly at affordable prices with the beach literally steps from your room, with comfy beds, convienient kitchenettes, cozy rooms and ocean view then stay at the Moonstone !

Room Tip: room 7 only room no pets, all others pet friendly, young children and/or older pets choose downstair...
