Stayed at the 'New' Moonstone Motel for the first time March 2016. As always- Managers- Jim & Patti are top par- helpful and friendly. We stayed in top floor center room #8. Views are awesome ! Every room has ocean view. * Odd thing- bright lights stay on 24/7 - *floods light into your room- blinds do not block it out-* I ended up taking extra blanket and hanging it over the door to block out some light. Very nice for a new build, bathroom had a 'spa' type feel to it, really like the natural rock in the shower floor- but missed having the option to soak in a bathtub (shower only) and shower glass did not keep water off of bathroom floor, as it only came partially across. The new room was very small (in comparison to 'old Moonstone') and lack the 'charisma' and 'charm' of the old building, they are very stark, plain and boring (in my opinion) (and I missed the 'diary' memoirs of the 'old' Moonstone- we always enjoyed reading through what other guests wrote and adding our own * I'd like to see this returned*) New furniture is nice and had a 'beach' feel to it. The art on the wall was very nice, I really like the 'retro' photo in the bathroom looked like 1920's of girls on the beach ( I'd like to see more of this incorporated- bring more 'charisma') Bed...Stayed at the 'New' Moonstone Motel for the first time March 2016. Did not much use the large hanging closet and seemed like wasted space to me. Room only had one chair (a comfortable chair-but still just one) Table with stools-basic utilitarian- (I miss the 'dinette' table chairs of 'old' Moonstone placed in front of window to enjoy the views) Kitchenette had 2 burner cooktop (no oven), nice deep sink, large microwave with hood vent (loud-don't expect to watch TV at same time) toaster, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, *small one cup only coffee pot* (this irritated me) having to continuously brew "each" cup of coffee individually-rather than just brew a whole pot to enjoy. Next stay I will bring my own coffee pot.* I also missed having an option of an *oven. Minimal basic cooking/eating utensils provided (no measuring cup) Also there are no patio chairs on deck/walkway- (as there was at old Moonstone) there really isn't room for any on the new building-to narrow- We brought our own fold up chairs for sitting outside our room-More
