Delightful host and very beautiful 1930's house. Well kept up and with a wonderful garden to sit in the sun. It is so close to everything and still quiet. The meals were great with ingredients from the garden, very fresh and well made. I stayed during the time I was taking art classes at LaConnor art workshops on two different weeks and Dennis was very helpful and accommodating for my strange schedule. The cat is huge and very sweet. I will stay here every time I come up for class.

I stayed at the Highland Garden House for close to a week while exploring the area as a place to move to. Dennis was a great host and very knowledgeable about the area, places to go, to eat, etc. He makes a good breakfast, too. The house is clean and organized; the yard and gardens are green and peaceful with a nice area to sit and relax. The house itself is awesome -really beautiful, with lots of character and lovingly taken care of. Spanky is pretty cool too. Neighborhood is established, quiet, safe--important things for a solo female traveler. I would definitely stay here again.

Dennis runs a great place, it's his home and he is proud of it. Only 2 rooms so you get very personal service. We stopped over a bicycle trip between Seattle and Vancouver and it was a great place to book the trip halfway. Spanky the cat was very cuddly too, even got into bed with me! Yummy breakfast including fresh blueberries from Dennis' garden. Will definitely return!

Charming house, very clean and cozy. I really enjoyed the character of the house. Dennis was very helpful in picking us up and accomodating of our time schedule. Loved the cat, Spany, too!

For the price as well, this b&b cannot be beaten!

We stayed with Dennis while on a bike tour of the area, and had a great time. He's a very friendly person with a background in food, gardens, and the locality that combine into the perfect B&B host. He gave us a tour of his naturalistic, edible-focused garden, provided secure bike storage for us overnight, and steered us to the best brew pub where the locals eat. It was an easy, 10-minute walk to the downtown restaurants. The room, bath and breakfast amenities were just right, and he keeps a very comfortable home. I'll recommend it to any friends who want to just hang around relaxed Northwest Washington for a bit.

I say not your typical B&B but not in a derogatory way. It's more of a communal setting with shared bathroom and kitchen. Dennis is a nice host but quite the talker...I kind of had to get things moving along for breakfast since we had to leave at a certain time. I loved his cat "Spanky". I think it would be wise of Dennis to show that he has a cat on his web site for those with allergies. Luckily, my allergies to pets are minimal. All in all a good stay. We slept well until the trains started in the early morning. Clean home, good breakfast.

Know what? You'll never beat this place. The rooms are really nice, and breakfast is good and homemade (Dennis, the host, is a former cook). Dennis is congenial beyond belief, well organized, and he did all the fixing up on his place. You can't beat the price, and Dennis is trying to make a real business out of his home. Go there (if you can get in -- might be tough because he has many repeat customers).

Anything negative? Not really, just that the neighborhood is uninspiring. But everything else is so wonderful that it doesn't matter.
