Owner description: Located approximately 25 miles north of Seattle, The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour is the only public tour of a commercial jet assembly plant in North America. Explore the interactive exhibits and displays in our 28,000-square-foot Aviation Center Gallery; then take a 90-minute tour of the Boeing plant where you can watch 747s, 777s, or 787 Dreamliners being assembled right before your eyes. There is a minimum height requirement of 4 feet (122 cm) for children participating in the Boeing Tour. To avoid disappointment please make sure to check height before purchasing tickets. This restriction is strictly enforced. ADA accessible tours are offered twice daily. Call in advance to ensure proper accommodations. In the Future of Flight Aviation Center Gallery, the Family Zone is home to a number of different activities, all designed around a theme of aircraft manufacturing and assembly. Activity carts let visitors build a simple aircraft model, or use our Lego (and Lego-compatible) pieces to express new ideas about aircraft design. A kid-sized airport and aircraft allow future pilots of all ages to practice their take-offs and landings. Currently, the Family Zone is also home to a highly engaging, hands-on nanotechnology exhibit, and a Bernoulli Table, an exciting interactive experience that teaches the relationship between the velocity of air and the pressure it exerts. Coloring and reading activities are also available, and drop-ins are welcome. Admission is free for ticket holders and for Institute of Flight members.

“Enjoyed our visit”

Whether you like planes or not, this is worth a visit. We had visited the centre many years ago and had looked forward to another trip. You cannot take in any i phones, cameras, purses, bags, etc. with you on the tour. There are lockers you can rent for a dollar in the foyer before the tour and then you can grab your camera afterwards and go up to the viewing deck to take some photos of planes as well as in the exhibit hall. For the 90 minute tour, you see a brief video in a theatre and then board buses to take you to the hangars to see how the planes are built. The guides are great. Very interesting tour. They have plexiglass areas for kids to be able to view easier.

Thanks so much for making a repeat visit from BC to see us and thanks for the reminder about stowing personal items like phone, purses, cameras, etc. in lobby lockers.

Hope you will come back again and again. Things are always changing and new exhibits will be arriving soon.

“Fascinating!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating look at the Boeing factory. Amazed by the sheer size of the complex.
The guide was very knowledgable and shared the facts in easily understood fashion, spoke clearly so no problems hearing it all.
Good provision for those who could not walk the distances.
Well worth the visit.

“Great tour for families”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We took our out-of-town visitors for the Boeing factory tour and a visit to the Future of Flight visitor center located next to the runway where new airplanes take off. The visitor center has a large hall with exhibits including some small aircraft, several jet engines and a full sized tail fin from a 747 jumbo jet. Boeing also conducts passenger experience experiments where visitors can rate preferences for various potential new features for aircraft interiors; so some days you may be invited to participate. There are mockups of aircraft interiors and kids can design their own plane at a computer station and print it out. There is also a viewing deck on top of the building with a great view of the flight line where new airplanes are lined up and you have a good view of the runway if test flights are happening.

It is good to arrive at least a half an hour or more before your tour so you'll have a chance to look around the Future of Flight visitor center before the factory tour. A few minutes before your tour start time, you will enter a theater for a short film on how the Boeing factory grew and changed over time. Then you board a bus for a tour of the flight line and are dropped off near one of the giant doors where airplanes come out of the factory. Inside, you walk through a tunnel underneath the factory and board an elevator to a mezzanine overlooking the factory where you can see airplanes in various states of assembly. The tour guides provide a lot of good information about how the planes are made. After returning to the bus, we stopped at the other end of the factory (the factory covers nearly 100 acres, so it's good to have transportation to get to the other end) where we saw two more assembly lines.

This is great tour for people who like airplanes and our kids loved the tour too. Be aware that kids must be over 4 ft tall in order to go on the tour. Back at the visitor center, we were dropped off at the extensive gift shop and we also stopped for snacks at the little cafe.

Tours often sell out, so buying tickets online allowed us to ensure a spot at a stated time. We spent about 2 and a half hours there for a fun afternoon family activity.

We love our Seattle neighbors! Thanks for visiting and for mentioning the Passenger Experience Research Center (PERC). During the summer, visitors can help shape the future of aircraft interiors by participating in a study. They even get a small token of appreciation as a thank-you for giving input.

Hope you will visit us again!

“Mind-Blowing Tour”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

The tour was great, made even better by our wonderful guide.

A few notes:
* No bags or cell phones are allowed on the tour. Lockers are available for about $1.00.
* Make your reservation in advance!
* The tour requires some leisurely walking with a few stairs, but nothing too strenuous. Some of the walking is outdoors, so be prepared with hat/sunglasses if you are like me and need to stay covered up/out of the sun.
* Toilets are not available during the tour, so "go" in advance!
* Our 90 minute tour ran about 15 minutes long, so plan accordingly.

The tour itself is interesting. The hangars where these airplanes are built are simply massive and difficult to comprehend without seeing them in person.

Educational and entertaining tour; highly recommended.

“Worth visiting if you like airplanes”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

I wasn't too excited about this tour, initially. It was my husband who really wanted to go. Ultimately, I too enjoyed seeing the inside of the factory (i.e. the larges building in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records) and seeing how planes are built.
