Owner description: Located approximately 25 miles north of Seattle, The Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour is the only public tour of a commercial jet assembly plant in North America. Explore the interactive exhibits and displays in our 28,000-square-foot Aviation Center Gallery; then take a 90-minute tour of the Boeing plant where you can watch 747s, 777s, or 787 Dreamliners being assembled right before your eyes. There is a minimum height requirement of 4 feet (122 cm) for children participating in the Boeing Tour. To avoid disappointment please make sure to check height before purchasing tickets. This restriction is strictly enforced. ADA accessible tours are offered twice daily. Call in advance to ensure proper accommodations. In the Future of Flight Aviation Center Gallery, the Family Zone is home to a number of different activities, all designed around a theme of aircraft manufacturing and assembly. Activity carts let visitors build a simple aircraft model, or use our Lego (and Lego-compatible) pieces to express new ideas about aircraft design. A kid-sized airport and aircraft allow future pilots of all ages to practice their take-offs and landings. Currently, the Family Zone is also home to a highly engaging, hands-on nanotechnology exhibit, and our new Bernoulli Table, an exciting interactive experience that teaches the relationship between the velocity of air and the pressure it exerts. Coloring and reading activities are also available, and drop-ins are welcome. Admission is free for ticket holders and for Future of Flight Foundation Members.

Excellent tour and facilities. Awesome gift shop. Very skilled employees made experience gret and makes me want to bring more friends and relatives to your tour. My only suggestion is that you need to put posters or a computer with interactive information at each of the planes hanging from the ceiling to tell their story and why they were picked. I am also disappointed that Boeing retirees are not allowed free admission to the company tour that we spent our adult lives building. Shame on the Boeing Company!

Thanks for visiting us. We love our local friends and neighbors. We hope that you'll come back. One thing to think about is membership, which gives tons of great benefits. You can check it out on our web page FutureofFlightFoundation

We will pass along your comments and ideas about making it easier to understand why the planes hanging from the ceiling were chosen and more about their stories.

“Wow!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

The Skinny:

Parking- paved and dirt lot
Tour- 1.5 hrs
Gift shop- huge
Food- eh snack shop
Tip- buy tour ahead of time
Also- be prepared to be outside

We bought out tickets online the night before. You save money and don't hv to stress about missing out since the tours fill up fast. You can not take a back pack/ bags with you nor any cameras or cell phones. They have a pay locker that you can get in and out of thru out your day.

The tour is about 1.5 hrs. You watch a film first before getting on a bus. You will get in and out of the bus several times and there is a fair amount of walking. You will also be outside waiting for the bus so be prepared and have your umbrella or jacket (we didnt realize and left all in lockers).

You get to see them make airplanes. It is pretty amazing. Hopefully you will get a seasoned tour guide who will answer all of your questions. Ours was a newbie and kind of didnt answer the questions asked. The planes are awesome though. When the tour is over you exit through a huge gift shop.

There is an exhibit space chock full of cool things to look at along with an outdoor patio where you can watch test planes land and take off.

Skip the snack shack - limited selection of choices.

Really great tour!

Thanks for visiting from LA. So glad you liked all the cool things in the Future of Flight Gallery and that you were able to get onto the viewing area, the Strato Deck. We hope you will come back again.

“A Must-See In Seattle Area, 30 Min Drive North of Seattle”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

The largest building in the world, in which the largest planes in the world are being built, right in front of your eyes. Add a great company store, hands-on displays of other jet-related items. Quite an experience.

“New appreciation for those big jets”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

This is an interesting tour and worth a visit. The tour guide was very informative (she knew all the facts off the top of her head). The size of the place is overwhelming. After a short video you get on a bus to visit the huge warehouse where the building of the jets is done and she explained some of the processes. The exhibits back at the aviation centre are also very interesting and you can see various pieces of the aircraft up close.
It was great to see the black Air New Zealand Dreamliner sitting outside near completion - we are looking forwarding to receiving it soon!

Thanks for coming all the way from New Zealand to visit. We are so happy you were able to see the new Air New Zealand 787-9 in the All Blacks livery. Getting up close to the exhibits in the Future of Flight Gallery helps to put the sheer size of those beautiful airplanes into perspective!

“great to see, but wasn't amazed”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

I'll admit, my expectations going to this tour via 'Seattle Tours' were very high. I had family members do it years ago and rave about it. It was great to be able to get picked up from my hotel in downtown Seattle and driven 40 minutes or so to the factory.
The tour itself just lacked a wow factor. Sure we saw inside the massive buildings and viewed separate parts of planes from an observation deck, but that was almost all. There was a medium amount of walking under tunnels, riding elevators or sitting on a bus. I felt there could have been more hands on, whatever that may be, obviously I know there are security measures in place etc. But how hard would it be for the tour guide to simply pass around the group a piece of material from a plane?

It was also fascinating as to why we weren't allowed cameras or phones. Myself and another tourist asked, but never got an answer. It was a production line, I find it hard to believe that taking photos would cause any grief or expose any secrets. You won't get patted down like an airport either, so saving the $1 for a locker and keeping your phone on you might be worth it.

Finally, and this is nothing against our tour guide or the tour itself, but highlighting the fact that there was a plane from the production line taking off soon and that we might see it... seriously? I can go to an airport for free and see hundreds of planes take off.

The actual tour of the factory is 1.5 hours. The 4 hours takes into account travel to and from.

I may sound discouraged or upset, but I enjoyed the tour. As I said, my expectations were high.
