I was on a weekend roadtrip in Eastern WA with a friend of mine. My friend takes issues with business chains or anything mass produced (for a myriad of reasons too many to list here) and he likes staying at motels where each room has its own entrance to the outside. He also smokes so that makes it easier for him to get outside too when he is staying with a n/s companion. This is a very tired motel: the "free internet" did not work, neither did the remote control for the TV, the pillows were as thick as sheets of paper. When I called about the internet the phone in the lobby rang and rang and rang. I decided to get the outside line and call the lobby-wow, they answered after the second ring. I immediately thought the owners were more interested in getting into the motel but not interested in dealing with you after you checked in. Newport, WA looked to have slim pickings for lodging, I would suggest driving on to Sand Point, ID or staying in the north Spokane area. I would not have paid for this room because I would not have stopped there.
