Price was slightly higher than I like. However, it was well worth it. Location was great... just north of Goldie Road on Hwy 20.

I grew up around Oak Harbor and wasn't sure that the quality I like was to be had. But I found it here. We have a little dog and the restrictions were quite reasonable. Banned from all public areas. There was a door leading directly to the pet area - a nice little garden.

No "breakfast" like other hotels. The 'cupboard' is a small room accessible with our key card. It has all the convenience foods we could expect. They gave us a voucher for one free 'anything in the cupboard'. Free fresh hot coffee at 6:am.

We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the top floor in back. Very quiet.

You cant beat the price for the location if you are only here for the night. There are restraunts and coffee shops all over within a half mile! For sure will be back.. Beds are comfy as well. The staff is quite hospitable as well.

For the Oak Harbor area, Candlewood is located next to China City restaurant (see my review of them also) and edges out the competition with great beds and clean rooms, but can be a bit pricey. With a government rate discount, single night stay $104 after tax.

We were traveling with a teenage son and had reserved the 1-bedroom suite, which provides some privacy if the third person uses the sofa-bed. However we were advised that there was some problem with the original room and they upgraded us to two individual rooms instead for the orignal price. It was a win-win for us as everyone had their privacy.

Everything was clean and well maintained, but not up to premium decor levels. I don't mind the queen size beds, but the linens were a little rough or scratchy. Overall it was a good value and we appreciated the upgrade

Just up in Oak Harbor for the weekend since we didn't want to drive home to Seattle so late after a bit of boating around Port Townsend.

I was a little surprised by the fact that all the beds were single queens - they could have easily accommodated a slightly larger bed. The mattress itself was also a bit firm and uncomfortable - not horrible, but not stellar either!

The location is right on the main highway going through the island. The grounds were very clean and the room itself was clean as well. Staff was friendly. It was perfectly fine for a single night stay (but I don't think they do daily cleaning as it is more of an extended stay type place).

I also used the workout room which was connected to the laundry (which was complimentary - a nice feature!)- the machines were relatively new.
