The rooms were actually very nice and the staff was great. However it is across the street from a park that became a little noisy during the night. The bed was really hard and the elevator had a little problem when we were there.

Room Tip: get a room that is not on the Capitol Way side.

We were tired by the time we got here. The check-in process was smooth. The beds were even smoother! So comfy! The room was clean. The bathrooms were nice, with big mirrors and lots of plug-ins for my hair appliances! The front desk staff was nice. There are hotels with a slightly shorter walking distance to the Capitol building, by only two blocks. I would stay here again. Great hotel.

I am an Olympia native, so I was disappointed that the wonderful cocktail lounge with its burgundy leather booths were gone and not incorporated in the remodeling. That would have added a romantic feeling to my stay. I remember when the Governor Hotel was the "hot spot" for the adult crowd in Olympia. It also had fabulous dinners in the hey day of the hotel.. The remodeled lobby is very pretty and the employees were very nice.

Room Tip: we had two queens and there were ample towels etc for two people. we spent a lot of time away from t...

I took a one night "staycation" at this hotel to get away from home for some me time. Walking in, I was impressed with the clean and updated look. Front desk agent was very friendly and had me checked in, in no time.

My king bed room was spacious and extremely clean! Bed was surprisingly comfortable. LOVED the giant sliding window. I had planned on connecting my Wii U to the TV and just playing video games, but instead I found myself people watching (like the natural creepster that I am) and staring at Oly's scenery. Through the night, it was very quiet and because there's not that many rooms per floor I heard very little foot traffic through the night! And I was right by the elevator!

Only thing I didn't take advantage of was the breakfast. But if it was like the rest of my hotel experience, I'm sure I would've liked it as well! In fact, the ONLY thing I didn't like about the hotel was the room's fan/heater.... It feels like it doesn't do much of heating and air conditioning. If you're facing Capital Lake, be prepared for afternoon heat as the AC can't keep up with the heat pouring in through the giant windows. But hey, with the view, and the fact that the window slides open to let a breeze in, I can't truly complain about it.

Overall.... Stay at the Governor Hotel!

Three night stay. Long story, won't bore you, but be cautious about your valuables in the room. Night clerk was no where to be found and some scary looking chick walked in from outside and knew right where to find the Master Key. The next day all locks had been re-keyed, but who knows how far the vagrant got with the Master Key to all rooms. The a/c has some issues, so don't stay on the lake side if you don't want the afternoon heat. The remodel is nice, beds were very comfy. Daytime front desk agent was great. Location is stellar for walking downtown to shops and restaurants. Downtown has cleaned up a lot since being there a couple years ago. I would stay again but would be careful with keys, deadbolts and extra security.

Room Tip: Room on the park side is cooler in afternoon but street sweeper starts at 6 AM. Balcony is nice for...

I attended a three day meeting at the Governor Hotel and would have to say that the service was very good and the breakfast was good as expected. The only complaint that I had was the temperature in the meeting room was 59-60 degrees. The staff was diligent in trying to fix the problem. The third day, they moved in portable heat and got the room up to 69 degrees.

I recently stayed at the hotel for several days. Room (top/8th floor) was in good shape and appeared to have almost brand new furniture. Bathroom was a bit cramped and dated, but well maintained. One of the front desk people told me that the owners bought the place around Oct 2013. I noticed that they are putting a steady effort into improving the place, but certain things are still lacking. All food at the hotel is catered, so no room service. My room's AC/Heater did not seem to work (just circulated air), but luckily opening the sliding glass door overlooking the park/water made it an enjoyable experience. The other park outside the front door is another story... Several groups of apparently homeless and mentally disturbed people make this their spot during the day. Practically everyday there were stories from the other members of my group about a fight, person screaming, or strange behavior from these people. I feel sorry for the owners of the hotel, as they are putting a lot of hard work into making a better place but the surroundings are challenging.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms on the top floor have been remodeled/updated and get one on the back side of...
