“Serenity In The Trees”

We attended a relative's wedding in the Capitol Building rotunda. The Red Lion was a very convenient location to to access the State Capitol and downtown Olympia. Maybe a five to seven minute drive. Although the hotel is situated just off the freeway system you would never know it as it feels as if you were in a forest. The view from the restaurant/lounge is awesome. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our package came with the breakfast buffet which we both enjoyed!

We arranged to stay here one night and then return after a night of camping in olympia Naitonal Park for another 3 more nights. It was Labor Day and we wanted to camp in the park, but could not get a site for the weekend. We are on the tail end of a very long vacaqtion and this hotel was one of the highlights. Large, spacious rooms, fridge and microwave, desk, super fast wifi, immaculately clean and the desk people were amazing. After we saw our room, I asked if we could have ti for the 3 night stay as well. They said they are not allowed to do so, but when we came back, someone had noted our reservation and we got the same room. They truly welcome dogs. All rooms. They have a park area behind the hotel, and being on the first floor with a king premium room we were able to simply walk out our sliding glass door to a nice grassy area, large trees and a small lake. Even a gravel area for the boy dogs, I said this because they have a fire hydrant there. They offered membership in their club and that saved us the #15 that was the pet fee on our fir5st night stay and continued to give us a discount on the other nights. Our dog was welcomes with a cute little bag with a poop bag, a large milkbone, and a cute little doggie do not disturb sign. The hotel itself is nestled in a park like setting near the capitol and is very quiet. We have stayed in Red Lions years ago, which were nice, but this is like a flagship of their chain. Hope the others have been upgraded to match the standards of this one.

We were in Olympia for one evening and chose the Red Lion due to its location (the back part of the hotel overlooks the Capitol while being set in Parkland),

First of all the hotel is big. it is only 3 stories but has a wide footprint. There is ample parking in a nice parking lot with pine trees. The lobby has a fireplace and generally has a feeling of warmth about it. Good start.

Next up was the receptionist - often the person responsible for your first impression. Our receptionist was a joy; polite, engaging, friendly and helpful.

The room was big with comfortable beds, large spotless bathroom, nice decor and very, very clean. Check out was just as nice as checking in and overall we left with a great impression of Olympia, and the hotel.

We have stayed here twice visiting relatives. We always bring our Cocker Spaniel, and the hotel is very dog friendly. They offer a "doggie bag" with treat, poopie bag & silly "Woof Woof - Do not disturb" sign when you check in.
Ask for rooms on the ground floor with sliding door to the grass area if you have a dog. It makes potty time much easier in the middle of the night.
The hotel overlooks a lake and I5 with the old Olympia Brewery building in the background. Parking was easy and close to rooms.
The first trip our room was far from the lobby and very quiet (bottom floor, sliding door). The second trip we were close to the lobby, and there was a High School Reunion going on, several sports groups and other activities and the hotel was booked solid. The room was still very quiet for us. We only had one small issue; my wife asked for extra towels at the front desk but they delivered the towels to the room where I was almost asleep instead of to my wife in the lobby.
Other than that the staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The earlier you get there the better chance of getting the room you want, as is with most hotels, an...

First two nights of this hotel was a typical average stay. However, the third night was extremely horrible the front desk checked in new guests in the room next to ours with a pet. Of course it wouldn't be a problem if you don't mind a dog barking all night long. I would recommend if you stay at this hotel that you asked the front desk to not allow any pets to be checked in next to your room. Oh, and one small thing. If you like to have coffee in the morning. This is the first red lion Hotel i have stayed at that doesn't offer coffee to their guests in the morning. In the main lobby. If you don't want her somebody else's pets. I would recommend a different hotel.

Del: Thank you for your honest feedback. While we are proud to be a pet friendly hotel, if said pets keep other guests from getting a good night's sleep, that's a problem. We are sorry for the inconvenience during your visit with us. If you contact me directly, I'll make sure that your next visit with us goes much differently. Sincerely, Shawn Darling, General Manager, 360-353-8928.

I stayed here as part of a golf group. I was given a large room with a deck, overlooking the pool and woods. The hotel and room was a little dated, but it was clean and the TV had a great picture. Outside noise was minimal. Staff were very friendly and we got an excellent rate. My main problem with the room was the bathroom. It was pretty small and the toilet was smaller yet. It was an old round toilet jammed between the sink and the shower and I barely fit on it. It definitely did not look like the picture in the professional photo on the Tripadvisor page. Otherwise, I thought the hotel was OK, definitely a good value, and helpful staff go a long way to ensuring a pleasant stay.

Got this in hotwire for a great price. The hotel is big and have a restaurant within it.

We did not have a chance to try the pool area but it looked soooo nice. Go here if you value a good pool and spa high on your list.

We whee greeted by a very sweet and dedicated lady in the reception. She really knew how to make guests feel welcome with a smile and genuine interest in where we had been before and what we where doing in olmpia.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are great and tv is a brand new Samsung smart tv.

My only critic would be the thin walls. We where on the third floor and if someone coughed in the adjacent rooms we would here it pretty loud as well as in the hallway.

It's a nice place and nice hotel chain. Go here :)
