Classic 1950's skating rink. You rent your skates if you don't own your own -- and who does anymore? Well, the 10 year-old regulars do, that's who; the hotshots who compete in the grouped-by-age races. They play classic skate rink music, they still do the Hokey Pokey, they have a snack bar that sells giant red licorice strips. It's a favorite for birthday parties. It's a place when pre-teens can cut loose just a little, have vigorous fun, see and be seen, in a parent-supervised setting. But then there's mom out there too, skating along pushing the baby in a stroller. And there's the black clad 50-something expert, from anogther era, deftly weaving his way backwards through traffic.
