Wow, this place is in need of some TLC. We were visiting the Olympia area and looking for something to do on a rainy afternoon. We went to a mid-week afternoon session. It was very reasonably priced ($3 including skates) but everything was in poor condition. The ceiling is scary at best and they actually had to drain some water from the ceiling over the rink during the 2-hour session. The first pair of skates my son tried on were completely busted out through the toes on both skates and both my kids complained that the wheels were doing funny things when they skated. I wouldn't have used the restroom on a dare. Also there is absolutely no sign outside to let you know it is Skateland. It was really strange. I will say that my kids had a great time skating despite all of the above (and the music was good).

Where else can you find an old time roller skating rink? That means it is old and funky and fun! You can chose old roller skates, the ones with 2 wheels in front and 2 wheels in back, or roller blades for the more modern skaters. And if you haven't skated in years, just stick to the walls and enjoy yourself anyway!

Classic 1950's skating rink. You rent your skates if you don't own your own -- and who does anymore? Well, the 10 year-old regulars do, that's who; the hotshots who compete in the grouped-by-age races. They play classic skate rink music, they still do the Hokey Pokey, they have a snack bar that sells giant red licorice strips. It's a favorite for birthday parties. It's a place when pre-teens can cut loose just a little, have vigorous fun, see and be seen, in a parent-supervised setting. But then there's mom out there too, skating along pushing the baby in a stroller. And there's the black clad 50-something expert, from anogther era, deftly weaving his way backwards through traffic.

I love Skate land. I've seen the roller derby team there. It's been around for a while. Nothing too fancy, but a decent place to skate. People are nice there. You can have birthday parties there and sometimes they have special events with DJs.

This place could be such a great family place to hang out. However it hasn't changed since the 80s! I'm not sure it's been cleaned since then either. It smells like stinky socks and bad carpet.

The staff aren't friendly but aren't rude either. They are tolerant. The music they play can be questionable at times, especially with children.

Such a bummer it wasn't a more pleasant place to visit!
