“Continues to amaze”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

This was our second time to Past Time. It was late. We were very hungry. The service recognized our need for quick service. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fish and chips....the best we ever ate! A gem of a restaurant!

“Wow!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

This was my second visit from the UK to friends who live in the general vicinity. I love all the real American restaurants for traditional big breakfasts, sandwich choices and meals up in this area. When it was suggested we went to Pastime in Oroville I expected more of the same. What a surprise!
This chef creates world city class food using good local ingredients (and local ingredients here are so good), the restaurant is light and airy and the bar looked comfortable (even though the USA were knocked out of the World Cup whilst we were there!). The waiter was very attentive and the meals we chose were delicious. Highly recommended as a change from the norm whilst visiting northern WA. For the quality of the produce and expertise of the chef the prices seemed quite fair.

This place was impressive. It seems out of place in a small town like Oroville. It has a great bar and the menu was quite sophisticated.

The New York steak was amazing, the best we've had in quite a while.

Highly recommended!

“Great Lunch Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

We stopped in for lunch on our way through town and were pleasantly surprised. The bar has a bit of a large cavernous feel, especially when it is mainly empty at mid-day, but I suspect at night the place is hopping. Our servers were extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. We had the fish and chips and the buffalo burger. We easily could have ordered just one and shared it, the servings are that large.

“Haute cuisine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

It's a fine idea to have someplace in Oroville to eat that the food for the most part does not come frome FSA. I must say that our experience of " Fine " dinning leaves something to be deirsed. A guest from out of town wanted to go here so we said OK. It was thursday eve Blues also. Drinks were served and food was ordered. The music started early, not long after 7:00, and the volume was so over the comfortable range, we were not able to carry on a conversation with our friend without screaming at the top of our lungs. I'm not against good Blues yet, most venues start after the dinner hour. The dinner was served after a modest amount of time. Unfortunatley, the special was slow cooked apple smoked ribs. That sounded so good my mouth was watering. The first bite surprised me with dried out, over seasond shoe leather. the side was tastless cold rice and bean mush. Two tablespoons of tastless coleslaw and a small salad. For all the effort put into making you think your eating in Seattle or Bellvue, as much effort could have been put into the food. For the price one would think their high priced chef would now how to cook. The reason ribs are smoked slow over applewood is to infuse them with the smoke flavor not burn your tounge with over the top dry rub. Maybe he would like a lesson on how to make dirty rice?
If you would like to pay a whole lot for ambience and mediocre food then the NEW pastime is the place for you. And, Yes, I can cook better than any of them.
