This restaurant is located in the rear of the restored Port Gamble General Store. It serves very good comfort food and is busy, so call ahead or be prepared for a wait. the fried chicken dinner is excellent. service was very good.

My husband and I have eaten here almost weekly for about 2 months. We've tried the Denver omelets, veggie hash, fish and chips, meat loaf sandwich, chicken salad sandwich and clam chowder. The food is almost always good but there are frequent issues with execution. For example, I have had home fries that were not fully cooked and therefore hard, the fish has been overcooked and a Denver omelet was served without ham. When I said "almost always good' the coleslaw is to be avoid as it is totally bland and the clam chowder is not very creamy.
The café is quaint and the store has charm but they need to be more reliable.

We had breakfast at the Port Gamble General Store this morning. The place was full, with a lot of people waiting, while browsing through the store aisles. Our daughter had called ahead, so we were promptly seated. The ladies ordered lemon ricotta pancakes. Son-in-law had the almond French toast and I had the waffles. Side orders of bacon and sausage and Ravensomething coffee. Everything was wonderful and the service was incredible. From the outside, you get no clue of what awaits you in the cafe. If you are near the Olympic Peninsula, make a point of eating here.

I really can't understand the positive reviews -
We arrived to have lunch with our kids. We asked whether there was a children's menu. We were told "No, there is no children's menu and that people usually have the kids split a grilled cheese and some sides". We heard her say the same thing to another family who looked equally perplexed. Seriously? Kids can only have grilled cheese? The other problem we've had with this place is that everything is overly spicy. The macaroni and cheese was not only too spicy (and why it there cayenne in it in the first place? It's not mentioned in the description so beware parents of small children), but it was mushy, dry and bland. It was truly inedible. It was $13 for a small portion (no bread, no other side included). The breakfast potatoes were too spicy and overcooked. Even the farmers salad was overly spicy. It was in everything. I agree with other reviewers that's it's not the nicest staff there either. They seem to fancy themselves an upscale restaurant (reflective in the ridiculous prices) but there is absolutely nothing to support their price structure. Overall - it's way, way overpriced, not family friendly, overly spicy and not a pleasant experience in general. Sadly, we just can't come up with any reason to return. They are expanding their space so we hope that in time they will reconsider their menu, attitude toward children, service and pricing. It's a great location and a huge lost opportunity on their part.

We were a bit disappointed in our motel's continental breakfast offering (great motel but not much of a breakfast) so drove to Port Gamble (we had been to the Port Gamble Theater the previous evening and discovered the restaurant). I had the Indian Fry Bread with sausage gravy & herbed potatoes and my wife had the Almond French Toast. Both to die for, just excellent.
