I reserved the USO Hall for our wedding reception, and a space for our outdoor ceremony. The sales director, Maureen, was a nightmare to deal with. We looked into reserving a space at Fort Worden for our wedding a few months ago, and Maureen informed us that we HAD TO use Fort Wordens catering service and were not allowed to bring in our own food or beverages. So, since we're on a budget I started searching for other venues. Then Maureen called us back and asked why I hadn't contacted her again. I told her that it was because catering wasn't in our budget and she insisted that she never said that we had to use their catering service. We hadn't found any other venues that we loved in our budget, so we decided to just go ahead with Fort Worden. We went and checked out the Chapel and the USO Hall and they are both beautiful! They are also very affordable! I am very pleased that tables and chairs are provided at no extra cost (except for outdoor venues, then you have to pay $2 per chair). We decided on a date, and called Maureen the next week and reserved our spaces. One hour later my Fiancees Mother informed us that the date that we had chosen is also the first day of the camp for special needs children that she has been running for the last 20 years. She said that if we don't choose another date then she and my Fiancees family wouldn't be able to attend! I called Maureen back immediately and left her a message (she NEVER picks up her phone) telling her that there is a problem with that date. I called her back ONE HOUR after we made the reservations. At 1pm. She didn't get back to me until 9 next morning and left me a message stating that she had not run our credit card yet and asked for a list of other dates so that she could find one that would work for us. So I did. I called her back 2 hours after she left me that message. Maureen did not get back to me until 6pm the next day. She sounded very annoyed. "What is the problem? No. I already ran the card. You have been booked for that date. I have the list of other dates, but if I get into that...it just gets messy. You're lucky to have a day booked at all. You should just stick with what you have". Wow. She didn't even want to TRY and check to see if there was another date available? So, the park is gorgeous and very affordable. But DO NOT let Maureen handle your reservation!
