“Skip the Brunch”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

Skip the bunch! Friends and I went to Brunch on Sunday, August 25, in the lovely Victorian double parlor dining room. Up until a few years ago, this was THE place to have Brunch, particularly for a special occasion or to impress out-of-town guests. It had been a fabulous dining experience and the menu difficult to beat for taste, presentation, variety and originality. As with many businesses, the restaurant was having a difficult time during these economically challenging times and it had started to slide in hours, food, service, etc. So having heard that the restaurant was under new management, we were anxious to try it again. Big mistake! Couldn't have been less impressed with the food and the service. As for the meals...the menu described omelets as fluffy, but better description is "toasted"! Very dry and unappetizingly brown with hardly any cheese. French Toast described as large cut slices, but in actuality were regular slices of bread. Speaking of bread, only one type available - whole grain and one slice per entrée. And as for the advertised (complimentary) pastry basket - it really appeared to have been "Little Debbie" pre-packaged pastries available at any convenience store. Also, someone in the kitchen needs a lesson on the difference between "hash browns" and "home fries." Menu says hash browns, but actually they were home fries so overdone as to be like little pebbles and inedible. Frankly, students in a junior high home economics cooking class could turn out a better breakfast. As for the service - albeit it was very busy but we waited 20 minutes to have our order taken; couple of orders were incorrect; coffee appeared to be rationed; and wait staff seemed indifferent. With so many great places in Port Townsend for breakfast, I recommend skipping Brunch at Manresa.

“Great place”

Nice menu, not too busy, good view from the bar. Enjoyed our meal but was surprised not too busy. We ate in the bar. Not overpriced or sloppy. Good fish. Nice salad.

“Great service, wonderful taste, varied menu”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

We opted to eat in the bar area to get a window table (and I would have loved to not have had the tv on), but the dining room would have been my first choice as its furnishings are quite genteel. Our meals were perfect. I'd recommend the chicken marsala, and my sister's entree was also perfectly prepared. Our meals were prefaced by a bread course complete with three different butters: gorgonzola, garlic-herb, and regular butter. The gorgonzola was aromatic and just wonderful. A diner at a nearby table took a conniption fit because she said something tasted moldy and she asked the server to take it away. Blue cheese, duh. The server didn't educate her that blue cheese is moldy, as are all cheeses, which may have been a disservice to the diner, but we certainly enjoyed the appetizer. Our menu items came out in a timely manner and we weren't rushed at all. The entrée prices were better than most of the restaurants we'd already dined at in Port Townsend; very reasonably priced. I look forward to coming here again.
