“Unexpectedly good Mexican food”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Naturally on a beautiful summer's day the patio/balcony seafood places are going to be full, so we "settled" for something fast and filling. Shockingly, this was amazingly good Mexican food and the Sangria was sweet, refreshing and strong! Glad we stumbled upon this little gem.

“best Mexican food in town”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

The place has been there forever, on Water Street, so easy to get to. The portions are big, the service is always friendly. We have never had a crowded, slow service ever, and the waiter is always attentive and quick. We like to sit by the stained glass, if that is available. Lot's of warm chips and salsa...what's not to like?

“Lunch with mom”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Every time I am in the area with my mom we always stop here for lunch. Actually, we catch a ferry to eat here from Coupeville. It's right on the main street in downtown. The service is quick and your plate is full. They start you with warm chips and a homemade salsa. I try not to finish my plate however, I always seem too. Delicious!

“Extremely Dissapointing”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 via mobile

Our midweek birthday dinner for two was just a bad memory.
The kid who waited on us had a calculator and paperwork spread out on two of the four-tops in the front of the dining area, so we were seated next to the wall between the faded construction paper Mexican flag and and a giant gum ball machine.
The restrooms were dirty, no towels or toilet paper in the men's room, (used toilet gaskets to dry my hands) and nobody refilled any of them when several people reported their absence.
Food was hot but bland.
Extra chips and salsa were offered but never delivered.
We never got refills on water (it was really hot and stuffy too) and to top it all off the margarita was just a virgin snow cone.
Because we used a $10. Coupon, we were charged a mandatory 18.5% gratuity and then charged an additional fee for paying with my visa debit card.
PT is our lifetime home town, so we are used to a "lax" attitude, but boy, this dinner, the business policies and the service were just plain lousy.

Nope, never again.

“Super Serape”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

El Serape is a Mexican Restaurant with menu offerings that include dishes from other areas of Latin America, thus giving the consumer a wide variety of choices from which to select. The service and the food are excellent as are the beverages (Cadillac margarita was outstanding).
Inside, the large, colorful murals are well done and entertaining and it is hard to miss all the awards proudly displayed near the register. If you visit Port Townsend, take time to stop in for lunch or dinner as your taste buds will thank you.
