“Enjoyed our stay”

Check-in was easy and John was on-hand to answer questions. My husband and I checked into #6 whiich had a small garden room leading off the bathroom that gave us a great view of the deer and the flowers.
Once we got over the shock of having no TV in any room we sat outside on the porch, relaxed in the rocking chairs and chatted with other guests staying at the inn. John really enjoys giving his guests a history of Port Townsend.

The room was quite small but the bed was very comfortable and the bed linens were immaculate.

Breakfsst is served at a community table which gave the guests lots of time to chat and exchange trip ideas. The clawtub bath is hard to get in and out of but the floor was made of tile so there was no concerrn about water damage to the floor. We would stay here again.

My partner and I booked a last minute reservation on-line. We started from the top of the Tripadvisor list of B&B's until we found availability.

Pros:
Price/Value
Check-in easy.
Spacious, clean, very well appointed room.
Queen sized bed is comfortable.
Breakfast was delicious.
Coffee, tea, water, and cookies available at all times.
"Common space" is also very well appointed.
Sitting out on the veranda drinking wine/tea was nice.
Good location... within walking distance to town.

Cons:
Fireplace is noisy.
Bathroom is small and the door is a bi-fold (closet door) so not very private.
The outside light is on a censor which turned on and off all night because of the slight wind... even with the blinds, the flickering light bleeds through the sides of the windows.
Sound travels between the Roseview room and the adjoining room..

Neutral:
Although the Roseview room is on the ground floor near the front door and flanked on one side by the veranda, we didn't have any issues with noise in the middle of the night or early in the morning.

Would recommend this B&B.

Went to PT on a friend's recommendation, Firstly we were awed by the 18th century Victorian architecture and the scenic beauty of PT. Internet searches are always a challenge but we were so pleased to have found the Blue Gull! Lovely gardens, comfy well decorated rooms, enchanting home, great breakfast, (couldn't.'t eat it all), gracious host in John who had lots of interesting history. Have already told many what a great place in a great town, PS the Saturday market 2 blocks away was simply fantastic and Lanza Italian ristorante made good on Trio Advisor' s #1 rating.

Room Tip: the garden room had a wonderful sun porch where we had a glass of wine before dinner.

Had a great weekend staying at the Blue Gull In B & B in Port Townsend Washington. We attended a wedding out at Fort Worden and they were perfectly located for our stay....5 minutes from the state park and close enough to walk into town, avoid the parking challenge and yet a quiet spot to stay. The breakfast's John served were fabulous....especially the pecan french toast....yummy! Hope to return in the future.....a fun stay...oh, and the bathrooms very roomy and nice! Thanks! Very nice & clean B&B with wonderful, informative hosts and an excellent breakfast. Slept like a rock on a very comfortable mattress. Good location for all Port Townsend has to offer. Excellent value.

We stopped at the Blue Gull for two nights on the way to San Francisco and liked it so much we booked a night on the way back also. We found the rooms comfortable, the hosts very friendly, and loved meeting the other guests at the 9am breakfast. We all sat at a long table, and enjoyed the delicious breakfast together, while conversing with people from all over the world. The breakfast was well planned and noone would go away hungry. When we arrived at the Blue Gull, we were welcome to help ourselves to tea or coffee and home made cookies.
Good Food, comfortable rooms good company, isn't that why we go to B& Bs. The price was very reasonable too.

Room Tip: The ground floor room near at the front door could be noisy if people were talking out on the porch...

We stayed here over the July 4th holiday weekend. We found the B&B to be welcoming, charming, and fully enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Pluses:
Delicious breakfast. I don't eat meat, and they easily accommodated me.
Free cookies, coffee, and tea all day.
Nice, quiet location in Uptown, walking distance from the main street.
Welcoming host John.
Lovely exterior gardens and sitting porches
Spotless interior
Comfy, cozy rooms and soft beds
Deliciously fluffy towels & robes

Minuses:
They serve breakfast at 9am, at a huge community table. If you're not into small talk with strangers first thing in the morning, this can be challenging.
The interior is lovely, but the overload of Disney memorabilia/toys/crap is a bit offputting from the Victorian atmosphere.
The plumbing is a bit old. It's the oldest house in Port Townsend, so it's to be expected, but you've been warned. :)

Highly recommend.
