This is now a Hyatt House (Jan. 2012) which hasn't changed things too much, but there are no longer robes in the rooms. The rooms are a good size and the free breakfast + coffee are a nice touch. Decent work-out room, and 10 minutes' walk from downtown Redmond. Complementary shuttle to Microsoft is a great bonus for those who need such a thing. I'll definitely re-visit. (Tip: QFC or Trader Joe's just around the corner...no need to pay the in-room price of $3.00 for a tiny bottle of water!)

Room Tip: one or two rooms have a balcony...the only way to get outside air in your room

Okay - I didn't see it at its best or at my best; the Seattle area was suffering its first snowfall of winter, and I was cooped-up in the hotel for long periods with resultant cabin-fever.

And yet - the experience wouldn't have been so grim if the hotel itself matched the cheery disposition of the frontdesk staff.

As it was everything went downhill after the welcome on checking-in - the public areas are dowdy and uncomfortable, the bar and restaurant look like some East European communist era cafetria, and the bedrooms are in dire need of a makeover. A few soft furnishings - drapes and curtains- would do wonders.

This much I took in as I arrived after my nine hour flight from the UK. The bed was wonderful with a perfect mattress and pillows, but I'd only been asleep for an hour when the heating system kicked-in with a noise like a scaled-down thermonuclear explosion. My best jet-lagged and slee- deprived efforts only succeeded in switching it off.

The buffet breakfasts are plentiful but a little short on healthy options(and very popular with the local law enforcement officers to judge by the numbers freeloading every morning).

My perceptions are probably jaded because of the weather-induced confinement, but I can't in honesty recomment the Sierra to fellow travellers.

The lobby is lovely and the free breakfast is wonderful with french toast, potatoes scrambled eggs, fruit, etc....and MADE TO ORDER OMELETTES! The suite was nice with a full kitchen and fridge and 2 nice TV's. I would have given it 5 stars, except the maid skipped our room one day, not sure why? and the second day we did not get packages of coffee for our in room pot? I also was happy about free parking that is close. There is a lovely riverwalk just outside the hotel as well.

Enjoyed a long weekend from Fri night thru Mon. I had a hart time determining whether our room had been used before, it was so clean and in brand new shape. I travel almost every week...been a long time since I've been in hotel this nice.

Beds, pillows, sheets were extremely comfortable. Having a kitchenette was a big plus.

Rooms/Building reminds me of some nicer hotels in Europe.

Location is also nice, right along a running/cycling path on the river. It was snowing, so we didn't get too far on the trail.

Breakfast, part of the stay, was very good, with custom order omlettes.

Will definitely stay here again if in Seattle area.
