This 1960s style Mom and Pop motel is a clean, friendly, and convenient place to stay when spending time along the North Cascades Highway 20.

The rooms are a comfortable size, with free wifi (good signal), a microwave, dishes and flatware (washed by the owners after your use), a mini-refrigerator, a CRT TV (did not watch), and good quality mattresses.

The bathroom is snug but functional, with a shower only in my room. The shower had a reversal of hot and cold -- if you turn the knob all the way, it goes cold again, so test it before entering. Otherwise there was adequate hot water, no problem.

Concrete is the nearest town. The owner recommends approaching via Highway 530 (when arriving from the south) to avoid the coastal traffic on Highway 20. The motel is a few miles east on Highway 20 after the junction with 530.

There is no supermarket nearby, so pick up supplies in Arlington or elsewhere on your way.

This is a no-frills small motel but it is very clean and comfortable and the owners are very pleasant. There was a coffee pot, micro, dishes, silverware, and real glasses, including stemware. It was very quiet. We slept like logs. I would return if in the area.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 5, Can't vouch for the others. It had a very nice new vanity in the bathroom.

We stayed at the totem trail while camping in the North Cascades NP and Mount Baker NF. We used it for our first night there and for a night in between the two camping trips. It was very comfortable. It felt like staying at someones home. The owner was very helpful. The room was set up to make morning coffee and evening tea as well provided you with wine glasses to enjoy your own wine.
It is an excellent roadside motel for this type of travel.

A nice little place, but could use updating. Biggest issue was no a/c and it was very hot in the area (Aug 2013).
Fans in the room but have to leave door open and fan in front to bring cooler air in - a bit unnerving as everyone
can see in your room when doors/windows open.

Looked clean enough on the surface, but after a few moments time you begin to notice the "tired" and "unclean"
look and feel and due to location quite a few crawling and flying critters in the room with us.

Carpets in #3 very worn and soiled, as was edging along baseboard, especially in bathroom and behind bathroom
door - kinda yucky! Web site said new DELUXE showers, but was just a very small shower stall - kept banging elbows and couldn't keep soap on legs to shave as no way to get out of the water spray - not even a massage shower head, but pressure was really good. Towels were relatively new and nice and fluffy - as we are used to when travelling.

Outdoor BBG grills very old dirty, not gas or propane so unsure how one would use them - never noticed any use during our 2 day stay. Very old rusty fridge sitting outside one of the rooms for all 8 rooms to use. Only enough coffee and filters for one 2 cup, pot each day. We bring our own as are DeCaf bold blend coffee drinkers and most accommodations have terrible DeCaf blends - so we were okay there (usually 2 pots in am and same in pm when relaxing).

Unsure to give it 3 stars, but not many choices if you want to stay in the North Cascades Ntnl Park area for any length of time at a reasonable cost.

THis is by far the best stop in the North Cascades area. The rooms are very comfortable (dishes, coffee, tea and great bath products) and you can make yourself dinner under the gazebo where you will find picnic tables, bbq and wood!! The rooms are very clean and you sense that it's a family run company. We loved the owners who were friendly and helpful. Great place to stop after a hike.

This was a clean, comfortable, and friendly place to overnight just outside the North Cascade National Park. We stayed one night before several days of camping but if you want a shower and bed instead of camping you could stay here for several days while you explore the park.
