A visit to the Totem is just list stayin' with your favorite cousin. You'll be in the warm embrace of up river down home friendliness that is darn hard to fine these days. The rooms are furnished well loved comfy furniture, the beds guarantee an excellent nights sleep that can't be beat when you're out on the wide open road.

This is about as close as you get to the park with accommodations. While the motel is certainly not new, everything is in good upkeep, renovated in parts, and very clean. Had a very friendly welcome and a good stay.

This 1960s style Mom and Pop motel is a clean, friendly, and convenient place to stay when spending time along the North Cascades Highway 20.

The rooms are a comfortable size, with free wifi (good signal), a microwave, dishes and flatware (washed by the owners after your use), a mini-refrigerator, a CRT TV (did not watch), and good quality mattresses.

The bathroom is snug but functional, with a shower only in my room. The shower had a reversal of hot and cold -- if you turn the knob all the way, it goes cold again, so test it before entering. Otherwise there was adequate hot water, no problem.

Concrete is the nearest town. The owner recommends approaching via Highway 530 (when arriving from the south) to avoid the coastal traffic on Highway 20. The motel is a few miles east on Highway 20 after the junction with 530.

There is no supermarket nearby, so pick up supplies in Arlington or elsewhere on your way.

This is a no-frills small motel but it is very clean and comfortable and the owners are very pleasant. There was a coffee pot, micro, dishes, silverware, and real glasses, including stemware. It was very quiet. We slept like logs. I would return if in the area.

Room Tip: Stayed in Room 5, Can't vouch for the others. It had a very nice new vanity in the bathroom.

We stayed at the totem trail while camping in the North Cascades NP and Mount Baker NF. We used it for our first night there and for a night in between the two camping trips. It was very comfortable. It felt like staying at someones home. The owner was very helpful. The room was set up to make morning coffee and evening tea as well provided you with wine glasses to enjoy your own wine.
It is an excellent roadside motel for this type of travel.
