We love 42nd street cafe- food always amazing,
charming spot and friendly folks, sometimes live music.
Make sure to grab some marionberry jam and celery salad dressing to take home.

“Slipped a little”
Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

We come to this area about once a year and this has been one of our must go to places. Unfortunately this is our last time to think that. The waitress forgot we ordered drinks and then brought the wrong toast order. The menu is limited but the food has always been excellent. This year the potatoes, which were sliced, were greasy and didn't appear to have touched a fry pan at all. The rest of the food was up to their usual standards. However it was an expensive breakfast.

“Still great after all these years”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Our first dinner at 42nd Street was 10+ years ago. Dinner that night was wonderful (still the best pork chop I have ever had in any country). Dinner tonight was terrific - delicious reminder of what a good team with skilled leadership can accomplish and keep accomplishing. Tonight was fried Willapa Bay oysters and killer fried chicken with mashed potatoes with mind-altering gravy. The chanterelle shrooms appetizer with local cranberry sauce was just perfect . . . earthy, sweet & sour, and way rich with flavor. They have shrunk their wine list over the years, but the list is expertly chosen and offers a balanced variety of really good wines that don't cost a house payment. 42nd Street is a warm, welcoming and relaxed restaurant with a fine staff and excellent food and drink.

“Fabulous food and service!”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Wish we would have known about this little gem before! Our realtor recommended 42nd St Cafe for dinner during a recent trip to the beach! The service was impeccable and the food was nothing short of delicious; from the calamari to the fresh bread and homemade jam, we had no complaints! Try the Bloody Mary if you stop in!! It was perfectly spicy! The owner and our waiter provided excellent service! This will definitely be our go to spot when we visit the Long Beach area!

“Love The Attitude......Caveat Emptor”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Wish there was a review. Lunch hours listed until 2:00pm. Walk in at 1:56. Couple already dining. Noise from the back. Sharpening knives? Sweeny Todd ? Several calls to the back. No reply. Owners come into view, keep their back. The blond haired woman turns steps out and at 2:02 they are closed for lunch. Nicely served slice of sarcasm...
I could more directly deal with some one presenting themselves as just not up to it after a long weekend or other obstacle/ issue.
You run a restaurant to serve the public ... Thus the term publican.
Never to return if you're restaurant DNA shows zero ability to deal with closing hours with grace & civility.
