My husband and I wanted to get away from the Halloween frenzy on our short city street. Sixteen years ago, we had had a memorable dinner at the Showalter Restaurant in Seaview, contained in the Shelburne Inn at that time. We decided to go back to Seaview, stay at the Shelburne Inn, and eat in their restaurant, probably under other management, but still said to be excellent. We made a reservation, but we were informed that the restaurant would be closed on Monday. The hotel is charming, and we had the feeling that the staff would bend over backwards if they could to make us comfortable. Homemade cookies, offers to bring tea to our room, etc. We didn't have any demands. The rooms are small, attractively decorated, and furnished with antiques from a couple of generations ago (four-poster canopied beds, fringed lamp shades, etc.). No telephone or television in the rooms, but there is free WiFi and a computer with high-speed internet for the use of guests in the small library. There are books in all the rooms, and in the library. If you have mobility problems (are wheelchair bound, or need a walker or a cane), this may not be the place for you, since the rooms are up a flight of stairs, and there is no elevator. The breakfast was quite good. I'm sorry we missed having dinner there.

if your refined, educated, well-traveled, and enjoy the finer things in life, you wont be dissappionted with your stay at the Shelburne.Over many years since the 1980's, we have always returned to this charming Inn.Having lived all over the country we always managed to come back, if only for a weekend. Once again last week, we left our beach area home in Southern California for the rainy quiet town on the Long Beach Peninsula. And once again we returned refreshed in mind and body, although a few pounds heavier. We were lucky enough to have come at a time when the Inn was hosting their Annual Mushroom and Beer dinner. Having traveled the world for both business and pleasure, wed like to tell you, you'd be hard pressed to find a more special meal and place....and of course the people. the very special Innkeepers, David and Laurie, the brilliant and charming Beer brewers Charles and Rosanne, who hosted from The Pike Brewery in Seattle, to the 2 young talented chefs, it was perfection.

For the first time, we chose the China Beach resort, and it was the best experience yet ! close to the Inn, yet situated in the middle of a vibrant ecosystem which was so relaxing. once again, we left far better off than when we arrived....and once again, looking forward to coming back. P.S. if you stay in China Beach, make sure you look for one of David's manuscripts...i read one of his short stories which was as special as the rest of our stay.
Enjoy !!!

I only came here for dinner which was wonderful. I toured the Inn and it is as advertised, a beautiful, renovated old house with antique furnishings. In two words quite lovely. The dinner was excellent, incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked.

We stayed here in mid-September. The room was nice (country stylish) and it came with a fabulous breakfast the next morning that more than warranted the room charge. They have hot coffee and tea available all the time in the lobby and even had ceramic mugs/cups and hottles you could take to your room. The lavender soap in the room's bathroom was so nice we used it through the rest of our trip. The staff was very friendly and everything was very casual. There is a great restaurant in the inn and it looked like its meal would be fabulous as well. We'd go back in a heartbeat but would be sure to give ourselves more time there next time.

Room Tip: Plan on eating in the restaurant; we wish we had. Arrive before dark and park on the street right i...

We recently stayed to have our wedding on the beach and our reception at the Shelburne Inn. Laurie and David and their staff made our day special. They made every guest feel at home and special. They truly helped to make this the most perfect day of our lives. Everything went perfect and they where a big part of making it happen. The staff was very caring and catered to our needs and request. We both feel we picked the perfect place to have our entire wedding party and guest stay. We also had the reception their and they where ready to do the wedding there if the weather did not hold up. We will go back time and time again to stay. They made everyone feel welcome.

A classic hotel/B&B. Great restaurant along with a gourmet breakfast. A lively pub in the evening. The staff is perfect.
Room 3 is small but adequate.
