What a wonderful little hotel. It's filled with antiques of all ages. The beds are super comfortable. Really has the feel of a bed and breakfast with all the amenities of a hotel. The restaurant is fabulous, can't rave enough about the food. Breakfast is includes and it is well worth having dinner while you're there, the salmon was amazing!

We stayed for two nights. Room was extremly cramped, had very poor ventilation (windows too old to open) and was decorated with a hodge- podge of old yard sale type furniture. Very loud street traffic all night and bedding was nasty. Food was average and overpriced. Unfortunately, this establishment has seen better days.

My wife and I and another couple spent two nights at the Shelburne recently and had an incomparable experience. First, the weather cooperated and was in the high 60's, low 70's. Second, the rooms were amazing. Furnished with wonderful antiques chosen especially for each.
Third, the owners and staff are friends upon first meeting. And the food; best hangtown fry ever and the crabcakes, a dream come true.

We had a two-day stay via Living Social. Room was fine--bed good and ok bathroom, lousy shower. The kind of shower that you HOPE you'll be able to get the shampoo out of your hair. We had lunch at the Inn 28 years ago and thought it was great--bought the deal on strength of that meal. Our dinner was mediocre at best--and v-e-r--y slow. Service was good but food was very slow from kitchen. They did comp dessert but it was lackluster also. Breakfast was meh.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are on the main highway but not particularly noiy.

We loved our stay at this wonderful inn this past April. DeeDee checked us in and provided a lot of information about the area. The inns' furnishings and stain glass were outstanding. Food was awesome! Would certainly stay here again if we are in the area. Check out Cape Disappointment if you go. Very nice side trip.

Room Tip: There is only one room available for a pet. Very nice being so close to the yard.

My husband and I stayed at the Shelburne Inn for 2 nights. The inn is lovely, and the room was very clean, and decorated very charmingly with Victorian era furniture. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are also quite nice, and the location across from a grocery store is convenient. The breakfast, which is included with the stay, was excellent and there were multiple choices, which is somewhat unusual for a B & B.

So why did I give the inn 4 stars rather than 5? Two reasons: first, the room we had was small. It barely fit a queen size bed, armoire and 2 small chairs. One chair was so small I could barely fit in it, and I wear a size 10! In the evening, if you wanted to sit and read, it was not comfortable. The common area downstairs was not set up for lounging. Second, our room was noisy. We must have been above the restaurant, as we could hear the piano playing in our room. Also, we could hear people walking up the stairs and in the hall. I believe some other rooms are larger, which might mitigate some of these issues.

The other issue I have with the inn doesn't relate to the inn itself, but to the weather. If the weather is cool and/or wet, there really isn't any place to go except the pub. Although our room had a shared deck, we couldn't use it. But it the weather is fine, the grounds are lovely and have some seating for reading and enjoying the sun.

I would recommend the Shelburne Inn during nice weather. If the weather is bad, and you don't want to sit in the pub in the evening, I would suggest you look for other alternatives.

Room Tip: Avoid room 8. It is small and noisy.

Thank you for your comments. Room #8 is one of our smaller rooms. If you need more space for lounging in your room I would suggest any of the following rooms: 9, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. We hope to see you again, no matter what the weather might be doing!

We have been to the Shelburne Inn several times in the past 15 years or so and never cease to be amazed at their warm, welcoming and friendly attitude toward their guests. The Inn was running a "by invitation only" special for returning guests which offered two nights in a deluxe room for the price of one plus a Reiki Treatment and discounts on wine and appetizers at dinner in the restaurant. We jumped right on the offer. It was a splendid weekend at the Shelburne. Our room was warm, inviting, immaculately clean and comfortable. The bed was superb and we both enjoyed a good night's sleep. TV is not available, so there is no distraction. The only suggestion for improvement is to install added lighting in the rooms so a guest can read more comfortably in the room. The lobby and fireplace was very inviting for just sitting to while away the time in relaxed comfort, in casual conversation, or for reading. The seating was comfortable and the lighting was satisfactory. We met the owner several times during the weekend and he was sincerely interested in our comfort and enjoyment. Breakfast (part of the package) was an enjoyable experience in the restaurant with a friendly and attentive server and interesting choices on the menu. The first morning I had the "DDD" Special (David's Downright Delicious breakfast) which turned out to be a superb and tasty omlet that morning and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The second morning I went for The Shelburne Standard: two farm eggs, any style, served with turmeric red potatoes, house made toast, and choice of bacon or pit ham. The presentation was well-done and the taste was terrific. You cannot go wrong with either of these choices (probably the same goes for the remainder of the menu selections). We will return to the Shelburne as it is an extremely nice place for a get-a-way at reasonable cost.

Room Tip: Each room is unique and offers its own individuality. Noise is not a problem anywhere in the Inn...
