In mid-June we made a reservation for July 2, because we planned to have dinner at the accompanying restaurant. We'd enjoyed eating there a couple of times in the past, and this time we decided to cap off our romantic vacation on the Oregon coast by staying the night instead of taking a 3-hour drive home after dinner. When we arrived to check in, we found that the restaurant was closed (without any notification) because the owner had decided to throw himself a birthday party -- which was taking place in the garden just off the "private deck" on our room. We were invited to join the party but declined to do so -- being uninvited "guests" didn't strike us as the right way to end our trip. Fortunately we were allowed to cancel the reservation at the last minute. No need for us to venture that way again -- we ended up driving back to Astoria, OR where we stayed at a great hotel on the water, with an even better restaurant within walking distance.

We sincerely apologize that we were unable to reach you to forewarn you of the change to our normal dining offerings on the day you arrived. It was a very rare occasion, and we hope that you will consider giving us another try at some point in the near future.

The Shelburne Inn is a great place to just relax. It has a homey atmosphere and few distractions, i.e. no television. The staff made us feel right at home and were very helpful. We had breakfast there twice and dinner once. Their chef is very creative in delivering exceptionally tasty food, and you won't go away hungry! Thank you for the wonderful stay.

This was our first time to this area, and we couldn't have stayed at a better place. Our room was outstanding, and the Inn was so interesting and historical. It was great to be able to walk through the Inn and see the rooms that had not been rented - it was like walking through a museum. The bar was excellent - great beverages, and there was a fantastic live guitarist. But those all paled to the incredible food, wine, and service in the restaurant, provided by the staff and the owner, David. The chef was incredible, with his creativity and presentation. We happened to visit when the weather was outstanding, and there were so many things to do in the area that it was great. And then, to be able to come back to our room, settle in for the evening, and enjoy the amenities of the Inn, restaurant, and bar. What a great treat! We will DEFINITELY be back.

Room Tip: We had Room 6, which was on the third floor. We especially liked it because we had our private entrance from the parking lot directly to our room, which was a nice feature. We also had a little balcony, with a nice view of Seaview.

Went in here for a nice lunch with my mom and grandma, and was beyond disappointed. Server was rude when we asked for our soup to be heated up, then came back and told us the thermometers weren't working "I don't know why!" Didn't feel very safe about eating the rest. Sandwiches were very bland, service was beyond terrible! Soup and 1/2 sandwich combo was $12.50 for very marginal food, with lukewarm soup. Don't reccomend this place AT ALL!!! Go a mile down the road the The Lost Roo for amazing service and great good!!!!

Recently stayed here and enjoyed it as there was lots to see within the interior. The owner, Chef, artist grande, in all respects, was a delight to behold and talk too. Lovely restaurant and small bar with piano playing for the evening weekend meals.

Room Tip: Because I had knee surgery I was able to have a downstairs room with walk in and large stall shower. Almost too much stuff in the rooms though so check them out on line and move things around?
