“Delightful experience, peaceful location and a great view!”
Reviewed 1 August 2009

Stayed in unit 6, the front unit in a multi-unit cottage. The great view out the windows was of Dungeness Spit and the Straits of Juan de Fuca beyond. It had a nice porch with a couple of chairs to sit on and watch the ships and birds, including bald eagles, go by. The unit had been extensively updated and was very comfortable. Even though the unit was one of several in the building, it was exceptionally well sound insulated; we rarely were aware of anyone else. The proprietors were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable of the things to do and places to eat in the area. We rented a couple of kayaks and headed out to see if we could find some of the baby seals which the proprietor said were born a few days before. We got to the island where the mothers leave the pups, and there were no pups to be seen. The tide was changing, and the mothers were in the water feeding them. The mothers would catch the food, then go nose to nose with the pup and pass them the meal.

Staff friendly, location gorgeous on a clear day with views of water and of Hurricane Ridge. Cottages are funky and style is old, beds aging. Kitchen appliances all new and very nice. Bathroom small but newer and nicely done. There's a shared lanai in the middle full of games and magazines that was pleasant - there are also lots of bbq grills around which is nice until someone right next door uses lots of lighter fluid and the stink fills your cottage. You can walk right down to the water and I believe the site has kayak rentals. Generally, this was a good stay, but the price is pretty steep for what you get. I would not take their advice on restaurants though - they sent us to a snooty yacht club place that catered to the geriatric set that we didn't enjoy, and which was quite expensive. Friends of theirs?

They rent kayaks!!! We had such a blast paddling into the NWR. The room was beautiful in its simplicity. The grounds were beautiful as well. We enjoyed hanging out in the round glass gazebo in the center of the property overlooking the Spits. The fireplace was already set up for us. All we had to do was strike the match. Can't say enough about this place. What a find!

We ended up in Sequim for one night and needed a place to stay. After driving by one the scenic loop, we decided to try the Juan de Fuca Cottages. The owner answered the telephone and was able to get us right into one of the cottages. She was extremely helpful; giving us options for dinner, instructions on the wireless internet access and showing us the DVD collection that we could use if we liked. By the way, she is a foodie, so her restaurant suggestions are right on! The cottages are somewhat dated with wood paneling, but that is part the charm of the place. You really feel like you are in a seaside retreat. The cottage was immaculately clean and the kitchen and bath were updated. If we are ever back in the area, we would defintely stay here again.

I stayed here more than 10 nights this past summer. Tom and Missy are friendly, great hosts and know all about the area.
The accommodations aren't fancy, but they are very clean, and the bed I slept in was comfortable.
The area is quiet. The view is incredible.
Why would anyone stay in a box next to the noisy highway when they could spend time next the water?
I'll be going back.

The place is amazing! Why? Because its the best! I live in Port Angeles, but it felt like I was entering a different world when I arrived. The cottages are so cosy and private! The views are breathtaking (even there website doesn't show how close you are to the water!), and the acomodations are perfect. If you are visiting Sequim, (or even if you live here) the Juan De Fuca Cottages are The Best place to stay!

  • Liked — The way I was treated by the staff! Always wiling to help!

My wife and I stayed in cabin 3 for five days in mid July and just spent two days in cabin 5 in late August. Both, we felt were clean and nicely cared for. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were nicely updated, cabin 3 had a full refer while 5 had a half size. Both had microwaves, dishwashers, coffeemakers, etc. Cabin 3 had more space than 5 but 5 had amazing views of the mountains and the privacy of a back yard that was pretty much our own. Tom and Missy were great hosts very easy to work with and ready to help in any way. During our seven days we experienced hard cold winds, hot sunny days and calm comfortable days. House keeping came every day but not until late afternoon, which we liked. If we were still in our room they would asked what time we might be leaving so they could care for our room. This is a very comfortable, peaceful place. If you are looking to be waited on, this isn't what this place is about. If you like something unique and beautiful you will love this place. We have gone to Sequim once a year for the last ten years and have stayed in a lot of different places. We won't stay anywhere else from now on!
