“AWESOME!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2012

Paradise in our backyard. This is definitely the BEST B&B we have ever visited. Phil and kelly made us feel at home and like we had known them all our life. The place is beautiful inside and out. Our room was comfortable and had great views of the bay. The breakfast was the best I have ever had, no really it was! The blueberry pancakes, eggs....EVERYTHING was "AWESOME"!! We will be going back several times a year to get away from it all.

Room Tip: All the rooms were great with balconies and great views.

We had a great stay at LOH. Best B and B I've ever stayed at. Kelly and Phil could not have been more welcoming. Just walking around the beautiful house made the experience. Throw in the comfortable beds, great lake views, and delicious breakfast and you have the ideal place for a get a way.

Well done!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Captain's Room, which was my favorite of all the room designs.

Phil and Kelly have put their heart and soul into their B&B, and it shows. This is simply the nicest B&B that I have ever stayed in. I had the lighthouse room, which has a commanding view of the water. It was great to wake up early and see harbor seals and birds on the move. The room was much larger than expected, and had lots of nice amenities, such as a fireplace. The breakfast was fantastic - fruit parfait and a breakfast casserole at 9:00. Coffee and muffins also served at 7:00. What a nice, relaxing place to stay. I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Families or groups should consider this B&B as well as there are large areas to hang out inside...

It's not every day you can enjoy an experience that revolutionizes and modernizes a traditional industry standard, but that's exactly the masterpiece Phil and Kelly Bergh have handcrafted at A Lighthouse on Hammersley Bed and Breakfast.

Traditional B&B's cater the image of Victorian renovation, floral antique sofas, and a modest tea and crumpets breakfast. If that’s your thing, great, but for the rest of us the Lighthouse offers a refreshing take on the B&B scene best described as modern pragmatism with the flair of Northwest royalty.

Your first breath-taking step into the grand foyer sets the stage for a grand tour of Pacific elegance at its finest. Phil's open-air architectural design and Kelly's hand-picked decor complement each other seamlessly creating rooms of thematic relaxation without feeling crowded or gimmicky. They maintain a perfect balance between taste and style from the game and theatre room with a bar in the “below deck” to the Captain’s Quarters and Lighthouse Vista on the third floor. The furniture not only looks sleek but induces sighs of comfort.

The Lighthouse offers porches and a sun room overlooking a manicured waterfront to enjoy the laid back currents of the Puget Sound and its local wildlife. Enjoy a late-night cup of cocoa while watching the moon-bathed sky and lights on the water like we did, or spend a morning with the birds and the occasional seal.

Phil and Kelly embody the ideal hosts, offering genuine and lively conversation along with gourmet meals and service you need as you need it.

A Lighthouse on Hammersley should be experienced to believe, if you’re in the area be sure to book a room for the best get-away Puget Sound has to offer.

My husband first came across Phil and Kelly and their wonderful B&B by chance, and stayed our first time on our way to another destination. Man, were we sad we had someplace to go after that first night...I absolutely did not want to leave. We have definitely been back since that first trip. I truly don't think I have ever felt so comfortable or welcome in someone else's home. Their home is gorgeous, the setting is heavenly, and the food is consistently beyond words. This is now one of my favorite getaways, and I find myself planning the next time we can be back before we have even left. This is a true gem that I will plan to return to over and over again!!

Room Tip: Every room is unique and has different offerings. You really can't go wrong.

My husband and I were looking for a quiet, scenic place to spend the weekend.....away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. We've found our new favorite place in this fabulous B&B! Phil and Kelly are gracious hosts and the B&B itself is a cut above the rest! From the comfortable and beautifully designed rooms to the fun pool table and movie theater to the incredible views from every window.............what a wonderful place to have a blast or do nothing! The homemade scones were heavenly and the breakfast was delicious and filling. We will definitely be coming back, again and again. Congratulations to Phil and Kelly, your hard work will benefit all those stress-out couples that need to relax and reconnect! Thank you so much!

As we write this, A Lighthouse On Hammersley has 76 traveler reviews here and not one is anything less than “Excellent.” Having spent last weekend there we can now add our own Excellent Rating. What an amazing place. We believe the Ranking of #1 would be the same in Seattle as it is in Shelton.

If you don’t think of yourself as the B&B type please don’t let that stop you. This is not the stereotypical Bed and Breakfast. It is more a miniature lodge or resort. (Though miniature is not exactly the right word for this grand and spacious accommodation.)

Anyone would undoubtedly be impressed by the attention to detail that goes far beyond the usual. The house itself is spectacular. Clearly much thought was given to creating the most pleasing and remarkable layout imaginable. And the decor is so beautiful that we were surprised to learn Kelly isn’t a professional decorator. We can’t imagine anyone walking in for the first time and not saying “wow.”

Breakfast was delicious and elegantly served down to the candlelight and quiet music playing in the background. The special touch of a different theme for the place settings each day showed a great love of entertaining.

The location is not really as far from the highway as it might seem and the directions are easy to follow. It’s just rural enough to provide peaceful, relaxing surroundings. The grounds and view of Hammersley Inlet are the very definition of “serene.” For anyone worried about finding nearby entertainment: the well-stocked theater room, game room with pool &ping-pong table, exercise room and library are all included in the very reasonable rates. And all can be reached without putting on your shoes! If you don’t arrange for dinner at the B&B, try venturing into Shelton -- there are some good restaurants in town.

Last but certainly not least, A Lighthouse on Hammersley has the best hosts imaginable. Friendly, helpful, and fun doesn’t begin to describe them. They are also extremely considerate and caring. We were in town for a funeral and their thoughtfulness was much appreciated. Do yourself a favor and spend as much time talking with Phil and Kelly as time allows. Phil’s stories of his life and how he and Kelly put this place together from the ground up are fascinating. They could literally write a book on how to run the perfect B&B.

Room Tip: Not a bad room in the house!
