“Best B & B in the Northwest!”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

If you are looking for a beautiful retreat in the heart of the Pacific Northwest then look no farther than A Lighthouse on Hammersley! My wife and I have stayed here several times, including recently during the 2013 4th of July. This was particularly meaningful for us because last year in July we were married at the same place! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location to be married and spend our vacations. Phil and Kelly provide a gorgeous getaway where every detail is taken care of, and each time we go they exceed our expectations on the level of service provided. The warmth and joy Phil and Kelly bring to the B & B makes them feel more like family, and we are already planning our next visit! Once you stay at the Lighthouse you will never want to go anywhere else! Thank you Phil and Kelly for such a wonderful time :-)

Room Tip: There are four rooms to choose from and each offers a unique experience! Just choose the decor you...

Great setting, beautiful home and property and engaging hosts. Phil and Kelly have done a wonderful job creating a relaxing and welcoming environment. You never feel as if you are encroaching on their space, even though they live on the property. They take great pride in the amenities, down to the home made cookies on arrival. Their home is immaculate and the food is outstanding. Don't see how you could go wrong staying here. As a bonus, there is an outstanding restaurant nearby in Shelton

I have just returned home from attending my grandson's high school graduation in Shelton, this time with my adult daughter. My wife and I stayed at the Lighthouse on Hammersley three years ago for a similar event. We chose to stay in a B&B rather than our son's nearby home - too much commotion for the grandparents! Little did we know then that our three days at A Lighthouse on Hammersley would be one of the best experiences we have ever enjoyed. This time I knew where we wanted to be!

As in the past, we were completely in awe of what Kelly and Phil have created. Their dream, their "labor of love", overwhelms the senses and it’s just getting better. Having a little experience in home construction, I was amazed to learn that this 10,000sf+ custom home was built in one year which might suggest it was hastily "thrown together" somehow or other. Quite the opposite. The attention to detail and overall quality of the facility leaves nothing to wish for. Kelly's creative interior decorating sets the nautical mood and Phil's enjoyable stories fill in all the details about how it all came together.

The food, the ambience, the peaceful setting, the great hosts, the friendliness - we could go on and on. It was just remarkable! We would highly recommend it - plan to stay several days if you can - you will not be disappointed! We plan to return again as soon as possible; our only problem is finding an excuse for why we're not going to stay with the kids!!!

Room Tip: The Captain's Quarters has an extra bed.

We found the Lighthouse on the internet when planning our holiday from the UK.
It seemed like the perfect place to get over our jetlag on arrival in the States, and so it proved to be. Phil & Kelly have designed, built and furnished the perfect place to stay and their warm and friendly welcome made us feel instantly at home.
Don't expect to be dieting if you stay, Kelly's home cooking is both exquisite and scrumptious and the view from the breakfast table is something special.
So well done Phil and Kelly for making our stay so memorable, if we are ever back in the area we would love to stay again.

This was our first experience of a B&B even though we have travelled in many countries including Australia where we live. Phil and Kelly have designed this house as a B&B with four distinctly themed rooms each with its own ensuite. They are delightful hosts who have tried to anticipate all the needs of travellers. There is also a games room with a theatre for watching movies as well as other communal areas with striking architectural features. We only stayed one night but had a wonderful experience with breakfast overlooking Hammersley Inlet. The catering was magnificent and to top it off binoculars were provided for observing the action on the water. Having been so spoilt I think it will be hard to improve on this in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor would suit anyone who has mobility issues.

We don't generally provide a review of a stay at a B&B, but this was one visit that's worth mentioning. All B & B's have their own character and for most, the experiences will be unique for each guest, but for a few, it would be nearly impossible to complain about anything. For us this was the case. A Lighthouse on Hammersley was the best of the many we've visited over the last 20 years. A spotless, contemporary, spacious, attention to every detail , and the most considerate of hosts. This is our personal favorite. This is the kind of place to come to if you need some peace and quiet, a good night's sleep, beautiful rural surroundings on the water's edge, and time to just hang out and read, visit, and catch a movie in their inhouse personal theater. And, don't forget the breakfasts - they are as good as anyone could want. This B & B is about attention to detail, and the design will impress any visitor. We will be back when our path leads us back this way to Washington state.

Room Tip: Any of the four will be perfect

My husband and I just spent the weekend at the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever been to. We are celebrating our retirement and wanted to find the perfect place to relax and spend time together. We stayed in the Hawaiian room which made us feel as though we had traveled much further than just across Puget Sound. It was beautiful and SO comfortable. Not to mention the wonderful breakfasts and snacks provided by our hosts Phil and Kelly Bergh. It was fun to hear the story of how the Bed and Breakfast came to be, and we were awestruck by all of the little touches that makes this place so beautiful and unique. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed watching a seal feeding on the fish right off the beach while we were having breakfast our first morning there. We can't wait to go back, and bring our family and friends with us!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great and we hope to stay in all of them during our next stays... We loved the...
