“Perfect romantic getaway”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

My wife and I stayed overnight here and still talk about it weeks later. We can't wait to go back. The bed was comfortable but that isn't what made our stay special - the room has a real wood fireplace and a two person bathtub. Very romantic and relaxing. And we had a room overlooking the river so we could open our balcony door and hear the waterfall. We had breakfast in the dining room which was over the top fresh and good. Ready to go back.

When we arrived, we discovered that we had driven 2 1/2 hours only to *not* get a River View Room, which we had booked. They could not have been nicer or more accommodating! Immediately gave us an upgrade and the room was perfect. Right on the top of the falls (you cannot get a view of the falls from below as the lodge is atop the falls, so do not expect this). With the terrace door open, we could hear the falls and what a lovely sound while napping, reading or sleeping at night. I would recommend that you pay the extra amount and get the River View room. Otherwise, what's the point? We had one breakfast in the Dining Room, which was spectacular in terms of food, window table view and service. We ate twice in "The Attic," the more casual pub-like restaurant and the food was excellent. My husband says it was the best Caesar salad he has ever eaten and had it two nights in a row. The Spa was too pricey for our tastes, but we were there to just soak in the scenery and relax...read, sleep, eat good food, tsake walks, etc. But, if you want to be more active, there are several things to do in the area and the waitress gave us a printout at breakfast. We loved the little library and played a game of scrabble after dinner one evening. The staff could not have been more gracious, except for one waitress one evening in The Attic who seemed a bit harried and also like she just didn't want to be there. other than that, lovely experience.

Room Tip: 321 was an excellent room

We had never stayed here since we had checked rates before and assumed it wasn't worth it. We were wrong! We talked to some friends that had stayed before and they highly recommended it. It was for our anniversary so we booked the Romance Atop the Falls package. Check-in is at 4pm but we were able to check-in early which was nice. The valet attendants were very kind and the front desk ladies were very helpful and thorough. Our room was very spacious and the view was great!! We were on the Spa level so we were able to walk down in the slippers & robes provided and soak in the mineral tubs and use the sauna. The food and service at The Attic and the main dining room was wonderful! The Country Breakfast was a 4 course meal and was delicious! The only thing that surprised us was that we are used to hotels having a couple complimentary water bottles in the rooms. This room did not. My husband had to go downstairs to the gift shop to buy some. We were told we could have room service bring it to us for a charge. Overall, it is worth the money and a nice getaway that's only 30 minutes from home. We will visit again!

Full disclosure, my husband and I wanted to stay here because of the Twin Peaks connection. It was our "babymoon", although we didn't book the babymoon package because it was twice as expensive as a normal room. But I did pay extra for a "river view" room. Do not pay extra for a "river view" room. You're basically looking right at a power station, complete with bright industrial lights at night. I think only the most expensive suites have an actual view of the falls, although we could see the top if we stood on our tiny balcony and leaned out. The public areas of the hotel are nice, but the rooms look a little dated (they really need to get rid of those phones by the toilets). It was cool while we were there, and we wanted to light a fire, but you don't get real wood, just fire logs (one per night) which burn for a couple of hours then burn out. However, the staff were very quick to bring us another log when requested. We had dinner at the Attic and lunch at the Dining Room, and the food at both was pretty good but dinner at the Dining Room seemed pretty pricey. I also had a special pre-natal massage at the spa, and it was great. The therapy pools at the spa were nice too, not too hot so even pregnant ladies can use them. There are saunas and steam rooms too, which I didn't use. (These are open to all guests, not just people who booked a spa treatment) So overall, it's a nice place to stay, but probably not a destination resort.

Room Tip: Don't bother paying extra for a river view room, as you see more power station than river.

Dear Julie S,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are happy that you overall enjoyed your stay. Thank you as well for your comments about the view from your room and the pricing. The historical hydro power plant can be seen from most of our River View rooms. Most of our guests enjoy the views but of course that is completely subjective.

We would be happy to provide you with any amount of Duraflame logs or real wood during your next visit.

Thank you again!

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend at Salish and were treated so special! The customer service here is the best we have ever seen. We had a complimentary upgrade upon check in. As soon as we got to our room we had a chilled bottle of champagne delivered and a romantic "bath butler" for use in the jacuzzi tub. The real fireplace in the room was super cozy too. Moonlight massage by the falls was fabulous! We will definitely be back here again.

We chose the Salish Lodge to celebrate our 20th and 21st wedding anniversaries and my 50th birthday. It was a celebration worth waiting for, the setting is absolutely beautiful rain or shine and in April we got a little bit of both. Check in was flawless, our room was the perfect escape complete with a wood burning fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in The Attic, service was excellent but we did not venture into the restaurants as we had eaten prior to our arrival. This is the perfect escape, one you must make time for... We look forward to returning so that we can enjoy the restaurants, another massage and nearby hiking trails.

Room Tip: If you can afford to splurge upgrade to the 4th floor and experience the Spa Club Concierge! It is h...

From the moment we arrived we received friendly and attentive service. The first time we entered the Salish Lodge we were enchanted and once we had a meal we were hooked.
This trip was to celebrate a major birthday and the Salish team spoiled us completely.
The Dining Room and the Attic staff were wonderful and the food was very good.
We arrived expecting cool weather and the rumored ever present overcast and rain. We did enjoy a bit of cool weather as well as a few 85+ sunny days.
Most mornings we enjoyed a wonderful fire in the Library fireplace reading the news and solving puzzles. The Library is where you can find coffee and tea in the morning .... freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and tea in the afternoon.
The valet team brought our car around and made sure we had directions if we needed them.
We also enjoyed the Spa with wonderful massages and a nice soak in the pool.

Room Tip: We love the sound of running water so a room overlooking the river is perfect.
