Spokane isn't Seattle, but it offers diversions and pampering if you don't feel like driving across the mountains from Idaho in the winter. We like the Hotel Lusso for its spacious, reasonably priced suites and very convenient downtown location. For one notch up the luxury scale, stay across the street at the Davenport (same owner); for a quiet lobby and less hub-bub generally, choose Lusso. We had a king suite on the 5th floor, huge windows looking out on Post Street, two nice leather-covered chairs facing a gas fireplace, immense bathroom with jetted tub and big shower adjacent. Lusso serves coffee and a nice pastry in the lobby; no other food service. It's two blocks from the center of shopping in downtown Spokane and from the public library. I wish Lusso (and Davenport, for that matter) would get rid of wall-mounted products dispensers and give patrons actual bottled products. About a block away is a great sleek bar/cafe called Sapphire, in the Ruby Hotel. Good small plates, no TV.
